Character: Katerina “Karma” DiMera FC: Candice Accola. RP: initiatesrp Status: closed Description: The choosing ceremony, where Katerina defects from Amity and becomes a Dauntless initiate. Chooses a new name.
"Katerina DiMera"
Katerina glanced up, her heart in her throat. Her two older brothers had just chosen to remain in Amity, a pact the siblings had made after their testing. And though Katerina had been told that Dauntless was where she had tested the highest, she knew that despite the familiar slogan, family would always come first to the blonde. They were all that Katerina had; her mother, her father, Preston, and Jionni. It had been told to the children that their entire family had chosen Amity, as far back as the factions went, and that it was a family tradition to keep the peace and remain Amity. However, there was something inside the blonde that knew she needed out of Amity. And having heard that she had scored highest for Dauntless, she realized that it was just the out she needed.
The young blonde was pulled from her thoughts when she felt her hand being squeezed on either side. She glanced in both directions, her oldest brother holding one hand, her mother holding the other. "Kat, honey, it's your turn." Her mother whispered, placing a feather-light kiss to her cheek. Standing shakily, Katerina shuffled through the row of Amity members, making her way nervously towards the podium. She approached the five bowls, glancing at each one slowly before picking up the knife. The cool metal felt heavy in her hand, and drawing in a deep breath, slid the sharp edge across her palm, making a clean cut. She clenched a fist, drawing just enough blood and held her hand over the bowl of her choosing. Squeezing her eyes shut, she allowed the blood to drip onto the hot coals, hearing the loud, boastful cheers of the Dauntless behind her.
Without having to turn around, she could feel her family's hurt looks on her back. Katerina knew that she had just done the unthinkable, and knew that her family would probably never forgive her. However, she barely had time to process the decision, her legs carrying her towards the sea of red and black, where she was welcomed with open arms and hearty cheers. Glancing over towards where the Amity sat, she could see the heartbroken, betrayed faces of her family for a split-second, before she was shuffled into a seat in the second row.
Katerina was a Dauntless.
"Don’t make me ask again, initiate. What's your name?"
Katerina whipped her head up, her eyes locking with the trainer before her. She knew that she could easily have spoken her given name, like most of the new recruits had. But she was uncertain as to whether she should. She had just betrayed her parents, who had named her after her grandmother, a much-loved Amity member. She felt her heart clench, knowing that she would most likely never see her family again, that they would most likely never want to see her, either. It was a thought that almost brought her to tears, and blinked back the moisture building in her bright, blue eyes. Taking in a shaky breath, Katerina once again locked eyes with the taller man, forcing a stone expression onto her face.
"Karma."
Katerina sighed silently, stepping away from the front row once he had moved on. Karma. The name seemed fitting to the blonde. The reality of being away from her family was finally hitting her. Dauntless was surely the place she was supposed to be, right? However, the teenager couldn't help but feel like she was now alone in the world. But it had been her conscious decision to betray the pact that she had made with her brothers; her decision to betray her family's legacy and choose Dauntless over Amity. And it was her who had to face the consequences of her actions. Karma had hit her like a ton of bricks, and Katerina knew that she now had to live with the decision she had made.
Karma. Seemed fitting enough.

locked away in permanent slumber
Sweat covered his forehead, so much so that it almost stung his eyes. He wanted to wipe them away out of frustration, but he couldn't. At least not with the blood on his hands. His breathing was heavy and rushed as if he had run a marathon. Stiles glanced down at his bloodied hands, seemingly frozen in place, stuck watching his hands that refused to stop shaking. It wasn't his blood on his hands, it was Isaac's. Stiles knew that there was a huge question mark above his sanity, but he had never expected for it to regress this far. He understood things a little more now, whenever he was 'dreaming' his body seemed to take on a life of its own. His subconscious knew that something was off, which was why he constantly questioned himself, yelling to wake up. Everyone knew what was going on with him, especially after what had happened with Kira. Of course no one but Scott and Caroline knew that Stiles was the one who had instructed Barrows to go after her, but even they never thought that Stiles was possible of going this far. Or rather, whatever was in his head was capable of.
Of course it wasn't until the absolute last minute that Stiles understood just what it... he was capable of. On his frantic drive home he saw flashes of what had just happened. Kidnapping Isaac, chaining him down with ropes dipped in wolfsbane, beating him mercilessly with the kind of strength he never knew he possessed, dousing him in gasoline... if Scott and the others hadn't found them in time... Stiles kicked the kitchen counter repeatedly, screaming out as loud as he possibly could until his throat started to hurt. The match had been lit with two pairs of eyes following its path. Stiles could still hear Isaac's voice, pained, begging, still trying to get him to come to senses. He could hear Isaac scream in agony as his right arm caught fire, spreading up to his neck before it was doused in water then all Stiles saw was black. He had woken up barely minutes later, like he would any other of the dreams he couldn't escape from. Except this was one he couldn't escape. He had almost killed Isaac, if not for the scene before him it was the blood soaking his hands. Scott and Allison were on either side of Isaac, trying to ease his pain in whatever way they thought of.
Then he saw Caroline with them and he could practically feel his stomach leap up into his throat. Everything they had done to try and stop this, it was all a waste. If his friends hadn't been there to stop him, Isaac would be dead and would all be his fault. Possession or not, he should have been stronger. He should have been able to wake up and... Stiles glanced up again, somehow having ended up in his fathers study. He wasn't entirely surprised when he glanced down to find his hastily dried hands holding the sidearm his father kept in the top drawer of his desk. Was that him or the other him that put that there? If it was it was a completely sick joke, but what else was he to expect from the inner workings of his mind. He checked the safety, off. Full clip of bullets. Was there really any other way? They had all spent hours, days trying to find out what was going on and how to stop it. All those hours gone to waste when Stiles almost lit Isaac alight. Who's to say it wouldn't happen again? To Scott... to his dad. Caroline. Stiles glanced down at the hand holding the small pistol, his hand no longer shaking. He couldn't take that risk. He refused to let tonight happen again. Stiles wasn't strong enough to fight off the thing in his head, but he was strong enough to make sure it wouldn't be able to hurt anyone he loved. He'd make sure of that himself.
if i didn't know better | stiles&faye
Scott still hadn't answered his texts by the time he had left home that morning so Stiles figured Scott was just taking the bike to school again. On one hand he didn't mind the drive alone, but on the other he needed to talk to his best friend. After meeting Clara Salvatore in the woods of all places, the random appearance of Daniel Salvatore and 'disappearance' of Mr. Harris, not to mention all the files about the Salvatore's in general in his dad's computer, it was all too weird for it to just be coincidental. Excluding the factor of Derek and his wolves, there was definitely something else going on in Beacon Hills. And of course, Stiles was always the one that needed to know what went bump in the night.
After he parked in the lot and quickly ran inside to try and find Scott, Stiles stopped short in the hallway when he saw a figure struggling with her locker. He recognized her vaguely from his English class. Faye. She was yet another Salvatore, and Stiles was well beyond thinking the appearance of another Salvatore was just another coincidence. "Need a hand with that?" He asked as he walked up to her with a friendly smile. He figured getting to the bottom of the Salvatore mystery could start with him getting to know them all. Or at least the ones that didn't seem homicidal. "These lockers are pretty old... so they usually just need a little push... do you mind?"
