Its not like this alone solves the funding issues and political road blocks brought by MAGA and MAHA, but this IS a win for human health research.
The sanctuary plan was about the only way RFK Jr's goons could make shuttering these facilities seem palatable to the average american, as there just isn't enough space in existing sanctuaries for these animals, and the other alternative is euthanizing 5000+ monkeys. ONPRC was the best equipped primate research center to be converted to a sanctuary. If they can't do it, its not likely that any of the other research centers will be able to manage it.
