Despite being the oldest Riley daughter and despite her lifelong friendship with the Dutton kids, Beth always seemed to gravitate toward the hands and other members of the work force that really kept both ranches up and running. More and more, she's finding herself gravitating toward Kade. Just this morning she'd caught him outside the stables and tempted him with a free afternoon spent at the carnival in town, promising that she'd let him free when the others arrived so that they could have their own fun. She should have guessed that Kade might have been a couple beers into his day off by the time she picked him up but it wasn't her place to say anything. Nor when he had a couple more on the fairgrounds themselves. He wasn't unsteady on his feet, he wasn't any more belligerent than a hand typically is. And he's awfully determined to win Beth a prize while she holds onto the pink candy-floss cone she was holding and taking pinches from now and again. "Okay," Beth laughs and it sounds like breezes dancing through aspen leaves. "Okay. One more." It is so clear that she wants to ask about the horse. Even here with the ground based roller coaster, the balloon rides, Ferris wheel, and so on....her favourite is the carousel with the hand-painted antique horses. She shifts the candy to the crook of her arm and claps excitedly when he manages to ring the bell. His smile is beautiful and when he looks down at her and speaks her mind she nods. "Yep," and just like that, she's ignoring the barker in favour of brushing a sugar-sweet kiss at the corner of his jaw. All that's bright and good in the world shines in her eyes and in her cheeks as she blushes and settles back down to her feet. "Uhm. Yeah. I mean. I'll take the uh..."
