Only-Games has a monthly subscription mystery box of three minis, either fantasy or sci-fi, and I signed up for the fantasy one in october. Then my hands fall apart so I'm a bit behind on mystery boxes. I don't know who the artists were for these Minis but they were fun. With the mystery boxes I've committed to trying new techniques and different color schemes for each box to push myself a little artistically.

The latest Mystery Box from Only-Games was this trio of anthropomorphic fantasy football players from Dice Heads...not normally something that I would pick up and paint. But the reason I get the subscription mystery box is to try new things. In this case the new thing was working in bright cartoon styles. After I thought I had finished them I showed them to my son who is in art school, because something felt a little off, and since he has real color vision he was able to point out a few things that would improve them. The ones at the top of the post are the second pass, the ones at the bottom are my first pass.
Axia Miniatures, "Legends of the Old World", or something like that. This is the second Only-games subscription box that I've received, each month they send me three random fantasy figures. My son told me I don't have enough fantasy figures in my collection so I'm working to balance the fantasy and sci-fi figures.
The challenge I've given myself with the Only-games creates is that whenever they come in they go to the front of the queue, so they don't languish for years at a time and the choices of paint, styles, techniques need to be things that I haven't tried yet. In this case I used the new flesh paint that I'd gotten from the P3 paints Kickstarter.
