I am so sorry youâre feeling confused and sad : (. Keep in mind, online quizzes can give a person a general idea of whether theyâre autistic, but theyâre not accurate the way a test from a doctor is accurate, and if youâre confused by the questions then theyâre definitely not accurate for you.
Autistic brains struggle to interpret and answer questions, especially when we canât ask clarifying questions, such as with an online test. So I wouldnât put too much stock one way or another into the answers those quizzes are giving you.
If you think you are autistic, the best way to tell is to get professionally tested. You need to go to a psychiatrist or program that specifically does autism testing. You can find these on Google, by searching for âautism testing near meâ. Then make a list of the ones you find, and start contacting them, either by email or by phone. Ask them what it would take for you to make an appointment to get tested for autism.
Itâs okay that you stopped learning about autism back in April. If you want to start learning again now, thatâs fine! Learning more about it can help you try to figure out whether or not youâre autistic, and it can help make you more educated so that when you go for testing, you can ask better questions to the doctor. Â
And itâs okay to be confused. I was really confused for awhile, too. I wasnât sure if I had autism or if my symptoms were from my bad anxiety instead, and it took me a long time to learn enough about autism to decide that I really was autistic, and then it took me awhile after that before I was able to get professionally tested as well.
So itâs okay to be confused, and itâs okay to not understand the online tests. This is what autism testers are trained for, so reach out to them, and they will help you figure out whether youâre autistic.
