This just happened to day with my daughter! I was holding her up, and she saw her grandfather, and just started pulling forward until I let her 'walk' to him!

teadrinkingdragon They handled the relationship REALLY well.  Though, honestly, gonna stick to this- Astrid should have been chief.  She understood the responsibility.  She knew Hiccup didnât want it.  Hiccup could have kept doing his island-searching, dragon-chasing thing.  Was that cut off at the knees because of Valkâas arrival? Though I guess itâs as much Hiccupâs story as a whole story.  He has to grow into himself.  So... But yes, all of the relationships in this movie they did really well.

All right, brass tacks: I'd like to know (basically) how much damage I can do to one of the characters before she dies. What would be a good (non-lethal) area for her to be shot, preferably in the torso? Also, what would be the common injuries sustained when someone is hit by a car?
Yay! Â I was kind of begging people to ask me stuff, and now here we are and Iâm neeerrrrvous. Â As a reminder, Iâm not a doctor- Iâm a physicaltherapist. Â So my anatomy is pretty good,but Iâm not an internal medicine specialist. I do movement dysfunction.

That saidâŚ!  Thisquestion is really funny.  Have you seenthat bit of dialogue going around about where is a good place to get shot,bleed profusely, and still live?  Formen, itâs the penis.  For womenâŚ?  Hmmm, less easy to say.
Itâs hard to say non-lethal because how much time does shehave before she gets medical attention? And when you say torso, Iâm going to assume you mean the front of thetorso and not the back? Â The short answeris that there is not a good place to get shot in the torso :( Â We are so delicate. Â There are about a billion arteries (everyonethinks of the aorta but there are soooo many arterial branches) and then all ofyour visceral organs and all of their pristine space. Â
If you have to get shot, arms or legs are better, lol... But thatâs not what you asked!
The very edges are best. Everyone has a layer of fat (yes even men, women just have more) betweenthe skin and the muscle. Â Itâll stillbleed but thatâs mostly capillaries. Most of your arteries are between your layers of muscle and piercethrough to from deeper in the body up to the surface.
This all sounds like a cop out so the places I wouldprobably pick, if I HAD to pick places to be shot would be either the lowerleft or lower right quadrants of the large or small intestines. Â I pick these because you avoid the kidneys,which circulate so much blood, constantly filtering the bodyâs blood supplythat if you perforated one, you would probably bleed out fairly quickly. Â The intestines are not a great place to getshot but if she has not eaten recently they wonât be entirely diffuse withblood and someone can keep pressure on the area long enough to hopefully stopthe bleeding. Â After this, however, sheis at seeeerious risk for sepsis :(
The other place I would pick, if the shooter is far enoughaway, would be the right lung. Â You arefarther away from the heart there, and you have more lobes than the left so theblood supply is a little more differentiated. You could get some contracture of the arteries if youâre lucky so their bleeding will slow to an ooze instead of a spurt (contracture is a feature of most completely severed arteries). Â Yes, itâll be hard to breathe, but again, ifyouâre lucky, maybe the bullet will pass off the ribs. Â Always found it amazing how people in movies couldtreat a collapsed lung and stick it right the FIRST TIME withouthitting the ribs. Â *nailed it*
The car damage is a little easier for me to tackle in oneway and less easy in another. Â How arethe cars hitting? Â How fast are the carsmoving when they collide? A lot of the force/trauma is going to be just whiplash,especially if they are wearing seatbelts. Â But if they arenât, just imagine a marble in an empty soda can and give it ashake :/. Â Whew, yeah, not good.Â
I had a patient last week who sustained a âchance fractureâafter an 18 wheeler basically rolled over the hood of his car and then spit itback out without stopping. Â A chancefracture is a stress fracture from whiplash that breaks the vertebrae fromfront to back just on the force that is passing through the bone. Â It is TREMENDOUSLY difficult to do. Â The patient ended up in a neck brace forabout four months and is only just now getting rotation in his neck restored.
The position of the passengerâs body when they hit somethingand how hard they hit it are going to determine the extent/type ofinjuries. Â You could easily havecontusions (bruises), broken bones, blunt force trauma and swelling, internalbleeding, etc. Â It just depends on where theyhit.
