have yâall ever re-read your old stories and thought âdamn, I have progressed A LOT as a writerâ cause Iâm sitting here reading my very first ff, and I see the changes..
Rushing into the hospital, I couldnât help but put the blame on myself. I didnât want any of this to happen, but look how that ended up. All the years that Arielle and I have been together, I vowed for her to never get hurt through the shit Iâm involved in. But look what fuckin happened. Alright, alright Iâm just fuckin with yâall ainât nothing happened to my baby, but she is in the hospital for another reason.
Walking up to the receptionist desk I asked for the floor number that Arielle was on, as I looked at the clock seeing that it was 3:57 PM. She quickly complied to my request and I thanked her. Rushing off towards the elevators, I impatiently pressed the button three times, as if it would make the elevator come down any faster. Blowing out a frustrated breath of it being slow, I said fuck it, and went towards the staircase going up to level six two steps at a time. Once on the final staircase I let out a breath, shit was a workout.
Entering the waiting room the whole crew was here, we still rocking even through the troubles along the way. I looked over at Rita and Trey, they got married once Rita popped out their baby girl, which Marcela is now three years old. Sheâs spoiled by all of us. Kid went back to his old ways, so now itâs only him and Ty who are still the hoes of the group. I laughed at the thought. Kim is doing real well with herself, sheâs now in a stable relationship with Leleâs brother, Tyshawn. Weird ainât it? But they clicked once they met, been friends for the past three years and been together for the last nine months. As for Honey, she souled out and ventured on her rapping career, so to say the least sheâs doing good.
Shaking my head, I walked towards their direction. Tyson stood up once I came in view causing him to come towards me. Looking around him, I noticed Trell sitting down next to Aunt Nicki, while holding him and Heatherâs baby girl Tatiana, sheâs about a year and a half old now.Â
âShe wants you in the room, dawg.â Ty said, I nodded my head as he gave me her room number. Walking down the hall I was looking for room 617, once I came to it I heard her screams. Fuck! What the hell is happening? Sighing, I opened the door, soon tending to my wifeâs side.
âIâm here Lele, breathe.â I muttered, placing my forehead against her sweaty one, soon pecking her lips. âI got you.â
âWhat took y-you so long?â She said out of breath, looking into my eyes.
âTraffic baby, Iâm here now though.â She nodded her head, taking hold of my hand. Getting ready to go through this process. I pecked her forehead, soon standing up straight.
Hopefully yâall have caught on, but Arielle is giving birth. Never saw myself being a father at this age, twenty-one at that, but shit happens. Weâve been married for about a year and half, and I couldnât be anymore happier. We both balance each other out I guess you can say, she keeps me sane whereas I keep her happy. Thatâs really all that matters.
âAlright Arielle, you ready?â Dr. Stevens asked.
âMore than Iâll ever be.â She mumbled, taking in a breath. She nodded her head, instructing both Heather and I to pull back Leleâs legs as she was bout to give birth. I didnât even look down to her private region, cause I already know itâs gon be a bloody mess, and I ainât tryna faint once our child comes into this world.
- Arielle -
9 ½ hours later
Holding our baby boy in my arms, I couldnât help but sniffle a bit. Heâs as yellow as ever, but overall I know our son is gonna be a little cutie. Taking in his features, he had greyish-brown eyes - gets that from my fatherâs side - freckles lightly sprinkled his face, long lashes, button nose, and lips just like his fatherâs. I never expected to start having children this early in life, but this is Godâs blessing.
âDo you both have a name for him?â Nurse Mary asked, I was too tired to talk, so I nodded my head. âOkay, well just fill it out on his birth certificate, and weâll put him into the system.â She informed, passing Dondre the paper.
âMakai Issac Brown, right baby?â Dondre asked for reassurance, I just nodded my head smiling, soon putting my attention on our creation.
I just want to do right as a mother for our son, knowing that I didnât really have my motherâs love as a child, Iâm going to give my son my all. I donât want him to ever question the love that Dondre and I offer to him. I will do anything in my power to keep him safe, and know that he is loved by not only us, but his family as well.
âIâll always protect you.â I muttered, kissing his little hands. I watched as Makai drifted off to sleep, with a little smile plastered on his face. Our little angel.
Makai Issac Brown, born October 21, 2018 at 1:14 AM
2 days later
Nurse Mary was informing me on how many times a day I would have to breastfeed, and the other little things to know about parenthood. I nodded my head, taking her instructions cautiously. I know Iâm only twenty years old with a newborn baby, itâs not gonna stop me from what I want to become in life, but my child is my first priority, work comes after.
âYou ready to go?â Dondre asked as he came into the room, I nodded my head hopping off the hospital bed. It was so uncomfortable, I was just ready to lay in my bed next to my husband. âAlright, I already signed the discharge papers.â He grumbled, grabbing hold of Makaiâs car-seat, soon pecking my lips. I donât know how God blessed me with such a loving man, but Iâm thankful for Dondre. He helped me grow as a person, as I did for him.
âYâall be safe, and come back in a month for his check up.â Nurse Mary said, smiling as she walked out the hospital room. Dondre grabbed hold of my hand, walking us out the hospital room and out to the lobby.
Pulling into our driveway, looking at the time 11:45 AM, I let out a yawn. I had forgot that all our family and friends were coming over to celebrate Makaiâs âwelcome home partyâ, both Dondre and I thought it was ridiculous, but we obliged and let Kim and Rita plan it all out. I looked around our driveway seeing blue balloons tied around the posts. I shook my head, who do they think is gonna take those down? Not I.
âFix your face, baby.â Dondre laughed, I rolled my eyes waving him off.
âShut up.â I muttered âYou gon take all those balloons down, know that.â I said once he parked the car.
âThe fuck? No I ainât, ask yo brothers.â He grumbled getting out the car, I got out as well picking up the over night bag placing it onto my shoulder, as he got Makai out from the back seat.
âYes you are, they donât live here.â I stated, walking in front of him as we walked up our walkway, soon entering our house. He smacked his teeth muttering âwhateverâ. Chuckling at him, I shook my head âYou think I have time to shower and change?â I asked, as we walked up the stairs to our room.
âYeah, Lele. They ainât comin, in about another hour or two.â He informed, I nodded my head going to our room, with him following suit. It felt so good to be home, two days in the hospital was too much, but they had to check if everything was good with Makai, which it was.
Walking into the bathroom, I undressed from the leggings and shirt I was wearing along with the sandals. A hot shower was needed. Entering the shower, I turned on the water letting the lukewarm water rush down my body, soon becoming hot. Letâs talk about the last three years why donât we. Things are pretty good, Dondre and I finished college. He had a full ride for basketball, but he didnât pursue in that, he went towards the business direction. Heâs still in the game alongside with Kid and Ty, they have a tattoo shop and plan on opening up a clothing store soon. As for me, I work alongside with Heather at her boutique, and even model for her line. Everything has been good for us, no complaints within our circle.
To say the least, Iâm blessed with the family and friends that I do have. I feel complete in the inside, due to having that absence of love, that real genuine love that a person needs.
- Dondre -
Arielle was still getting ready as our guests filled up the house, I didnât mind though. I learned to become a patient person, and not go off. So Iâve been sane the last couple of years, thanks to my babyâs help.
âAwww, my little boo.â Kim cooed as I was holding Makai against my chest. âOoh, why he lookin at me like that?â She laughed, I looked down at him to see him mugging her.
I chuckled âMakai doesnât want you all up in his face, back up.â I joked, pushing her back some.
âShut up, Imma spoil my little boo.â She stated, I just shook my head, letting her think that.
âGo make you some babies, and hop off mine.â I huffed, she held her hand up to her chest in a dramatic gesture soon smirking as she looked passed me. I already knew who it was without looking back.
âDondre, you need to stop being mean. Give me my baby.â Arielle spat from behind me, soon standing next to Kim and holding her arms out. I licked my lips looking over her attire, she still looks damn good.
âOh, now itâs your baby? Okay.â I nodded my head, passing Makai to her, she just rolled her eyes kissing his face. I smiled at the sight, as they walked out the kitchen and to the backyard where everyone else was settled. I shook my head, thatâs my wife. She still make a nigga go weak from time to time, but what can I say? Iâm blessed with the best.
âNigga why you so smiley?â Kidâs loud mouth said, grasping me out my thoughts, I shook my head looking over at him.
âJust thankful for that beautiful woman right there, and my son for coming into this world.â I said truthfully, feeling my smile grow wider due to just thinking about our little family.
âMan, yâall are forreal my favorite couple. Just to see yâall make it this far is just amazing.â He smiled, dapping me. I thanked him as we made our way outside with the rest.
It was going on seven, and the little party had died down forty-five minutes ago. Now it was time to enjoy ourselves, as Makai was in the nursery room sound asleep. I couldnât help but smile at the fact of having our son, a child that we made together. I just fall in love each day being with Arielle. Sheâs my soul mate.
âI love you so much Lele, Ionât think you understand.â I stated, rubbing her back as we laid down in our bed. I loved this position, her head against my chest with one of her legs over my torso, as one of my arms snaked around, hand resting against her backside and the other supporting my head.
âI love you too Dondre, and I understand cause whatever your feeling, I feel it too.â She said, I felt her smiling against my chest âYou make me wanna become a better person, not only for our son but for myself. You helped me the last couple of years, and I couldnât be anymore grateful to have you beside me.â She concluded, her chin now laying on my chest as she looked up at me.
I couldnât help but smile. Iâve broke that wall down over the years, as she broke my down as well. âComâon babe, donât get emotional on me.â I chuckled, wiping away a stray tear that rolled down her cheek âI should be saying the same, you helped me grow as a person Arielle. I think we both helped one another grow.â I confessed, she nodded her head. âGet some sleep, baby.â I muttered, kissing the top of her head, causing her to lean up and give me three pecks.
They say once you get the right one, never let go. And thatâs exactly what I did, I didnât let go.
Todayâs the day, graduation day, couldnât be anymore proud of myself. I made it through all the tough obstacles that were sent my way. I thank God for those obstacles, even though most werenât needed, but it was all in his hands. I smiled at my reflection in the mirror, glad to say that I didnât give up on myself when thatâs all I wanted to do.
The last three and a half months have been so crazy. Kid stopped hanging with us during lunch, cause of the falling out Kim and him had. Nothing has been the same. Rita was mad at him for doing her best friend like that, but soon got over it, cause theyâre cousins, and they see each other at family functions. She told me that he broke down crying, and wishes he can take everything back. I feel for Derrick, but he has to live with the consequences. As for Kim, sheâs doing better, she was depressed for the first month and a half, but soon stopped feeling sorry for herself, talking about it wasnât healthy for her. All I can say is, is that theyâre at better place than before.
As for Dondre and I, weâre good. No complaints, we just have our little arguments here and there, but nothing major. Thatâs my baby, holding it down for him, through whatever.
âAww, look at my liddo sister lookin all cute and grown.â Heather cooed, entering my room with one of our younger sisterâs, Chantelle, following behind.
âThank you.â I smiled, âYou ready to graduate next year Chan?â I asked.
âYesss.â She dragged out, causing Heather and I to both fall out. Also, Heather and I got closer with our half siblings, our father and his wife. All of them will be coming to my graduation, including uncle Kojo, Hakeem and Aunt Nicki. Itâs gon be lit.
âI bet.â I smiled âSenior year will go by fast.â I said, she nodded her head, giving me a hug. I hugged her back, taking in the moment. It feels good to make up for lost time, wish we knew of each other beforehand, but things happen.
âYâall ready?â Heather asked, as we broke away. We nodded our heads, and made our way out my room and out to the living room where all my family was sitting. Feels good to be surrounded around them, filling up that empty void that I once had in my heart.
- Dondre -
âIâm so proud of you son, youâre making your mama proud in the decisions you have made.â My mama cried, as she hugged onto me. I couldnât help but chuckle.
âI do what I do, for you mama. You kept me motivated to stay in school.â I said, causing more tears to escape from her eyes. âCome on mama, donât smear your make-up. We havenât even gone through the graduation yet.â I chuckled.
âHush boy.â She hit my arm playfully, wiping the tears that fell onto her rosy cheeks. I shook my head at her dramatic self, but I know what she means. And I honestly did this shit for her, making my mama proud is all I ever wanted to do, as she was the sole provider for the both of us. âNow, weâre just waiting for Danielle to show up, then we can go.â I nodded my head, as she made her way to the back toward her room, I guess to check on her face. Looking down at my watch itâs only 1 in the afternoon, graduation doesnât start till 3.
- 5 hours later -
âI now pronounce yâall John C. Fremontâs Class of 2015.â Our valedictorian announced, finishing off the last bit of his speech. Most of the students threw up their caps, whereas I kept mine on my head, I ainât tryna lose this. Soon, the rows walked off the field one by one going towards the gym. Proud of myself for completing high school, got my shit together and just focused on the better things in life.
Talking with Kid and Ty, someone jumped on my back, turning my head I saw that it was Arielle, she smiled kissing my neck. I smirked, placing my arms under her thighs so I can hold onto her.
âSis why yo little ass jump on him, knowing you couldâve broke your ankle.â Kid chortled, looking at her as if she was crazy. I looked down and forgot that she was wearing heals.
âKid, this is nothing. Iâm good.â She chuckled. âYou can put me down though, baby.â She whispered in my ear.
Shaking my head âNah, I wanna carry you.â I said, she nodded her head, placing it on my shoulder.
âCan yâall believe we finally done?â Honey cheered as she approached us with Rita and Kim. Rita is tiny to be six months pregnant, but she ainât give up on school, so to say the least weâre all proud of her even though she had her moments on wanting to give up.
âYup, itâs adult world now baby girl.â Ty said, causing her face to fall âYouâll be alright kid, you gon make it with yo little rappin self.â
Everyone talked amongst themselves, and for the first time there wasnât any awkward tension between Kid and Kim, which was refreshing. They even talked a bit, and I guess they cleared up their situation.
âBaby, I have some people I want you to meet.â Arielle cooed in my ear, âSo you gon have to put me down.â I nodded my head and placed her onto her feet.
âYou still a little shorty.â I laughed, causing her to playfully hit me in the chest, which only caused my laughter to get louder. Calming down some we excused ourselves from our friends and went on our way. I have a feeling Iâm gon meet her pops and the rest of her siblings. Itâs gon be wild.
- Arielle -
Having a tight grip on Dondreâs hand as we walked through the crowd of other students, we finally made it outside with where all the families were. The sun was still beaming, and it felt good out here. Spotting Heather, I led Dondre over there. Seeing all my family brought a smile upon my face, to have all of us together is such a beautiful thing to me. Thatâs all I ever wanted.
âCongratulations you two.â Heather beamed once we came in view. Dondre and I both thanked her, soon I hugged Kentrell as he gave Dre dap.
âIâm so proud of you baby girl.â Aunt Nicki sniffled, pulling me into a hug âCome here Dre, give me some love.â She smiled, they hugged and pulled away. Looking at Jaylen I smiled at him, and he was tryna hold in his tears.
âWhatâs wrong Jay? You bet not cry.â I joked.
âIâm good over here baby girl, just proud of you two. Thanks for taming this knucklehead.â He said referring to Dondre.
âHere you go.â Dre shook his head âThanks for making it out here man, we all family forreal now.â He laughed. I let them converse as I saw my dad and other siblings a couple feet away. My dad was talking to uncle Kojo and it seemed pretty well. My dad looked my way and smiled, causing me to mirror his. They all walked toward us, and it was time for Dondre to finally meet my dad and the others.
âHey Ari, congrats baby girl.â My dad said, giving me a hug. It felt good to be in his presence. I donât have a lot of animosity towards him as I used to. He actually told both Heather and I the real reason why he left our mom. He wanted to keep seeing us but mama didnât want that cause she felt that he would take us away from her, just a whole bunch of unnecessary bullshit. So when I was younger, my mother basically painted a picture of our dad for us to not like him. Just happy that the truth came out.
âThanks dad, I want you to meet someone.â I smiled, as we pulled away, he nodded his head. I looked for Dre only for him to already be at my side âDad this is my boyfriend, Dondre. Baby this is my father, Xavier.â I introduced them to one another.
âNice to meet you, sir.â Dondre smiled, putting his hand out to shake my fatherâs hand.
âYou too young man.â Here he goes with that hard exterior, and Iâm happy that Dre is keeping his composure âArielle is always talking about you, always smiley and whatnot. Thatâs all I ever wanted to see, was my daughterâs happiness and if youâre the one who is keeping her this way, then we good.â He genuinely stated.
âThanks Mr. Sanders, and I will most definitely keep that smile on her face.â Dondre said, my dad nodded his head, finally letting go of their hand shake, turning to his wife, as Dondre looked down at me winking. I couldnât help but blush, that feeling will never go away, and I love it. Getting acquainted with the others, he met the rest of my siblings, Darryl, Crystal, Tyshawn, Chantelle, Jordan, Kayla, and our semi newest edition Kaiden. Dre already knows Orlando, so no need to introduce them again.
The smile on my face couldnât be replaced, I was just happy to be around my loved ones at the moment. My one wish came true, true happiness.

âWake yâall asses up!â I kicked both Tyson and Derrickâs ankles, just to give enough movement to shake their bodies. âCome on, niggas. Gahdamn.â I groaned, itâs going on 11 in the morning, and they need to be up.
âAiight nigga, stop fuckin kickin my ankle.â Ty groaned, placing his forearm over his eyes. I shook my head at these niggas, itâs just like any other day when we have to go to school after a late drop.
âI wouldnât have to, if yâall woke up the first time.â I retorted, sinking into the empty lazy boy.
âWhatever.â He yawned, sliding his hand down his face. âWhat time is it, anyway?â
âGoing on eleven, we got shit to do.â I stated, he nodded his head and shook Kid since his ass still wanted to be sleep. Kid groaned, slapping Tyâs hands away so he could still be sleep, but no one has time for that.
âKid, get your bitch ass up.â Tyson gritted, shaking Kid once more. Kid smacked his teeth, soon sitting up. They both walked out the living room, and went to the back to get ready.
Shaking my head, I turned my phone on, looking through twitter then switching to instagram. My phone vibrating gave me the indication of a text notification, looking at the name that appeared on the notification bar, caused a smile to form on my face.
Text from Leleđđ: babyyy, are yâall still comin over?
Text to Leleđđ: yes Arielle, da boys jst woke up so we gon be there in the nxt 15
She replied with an âokayâ, and I left it at that. I love that girl, forreal. Remembering that Kid had told us about his fuck up, I shook my head. Kim is gon be torn. She loves that nigga, ainât do no wrong, but one argument happens and boom, the nigga cheats. Kid is my boy in all, but heâs so stupid sometimes. Wish he wouldâve thought clearly before doing anything, but whatâs done is done, nothin can be changed. Heâs just gon have to live with it.

I had this weird ass dream last night, there wasnât a picture to it, just pitch black and arguing voices. That shit felt too real, and maybe itâs a sign that someone will get into an argument today. I hope not though, arguing is draining whether youâre involved or itâs around you. Just gives off so much negative energy.
Arielle entering the living room, she looked real happy with life. I couldnât say the same for me, feel like everything is crumbling around me. Letting out a sigh, I wasnât trying to think of any negatives right now. Well thatâs not gon happen, cause I recently just found out that my father may be getting released from jail. I donât know how, but thereâs a possibility. Can life get any worse?
Knocking on the front door interrupted my thoughts, and I couldnât be happier, Arielle excused herself to go answer the door. One by one the boys entered, Dondre pecked Arielleâs lips once he entered, they look so happy, and I love it. They both balance one another.
âHey baby.â Kid said, getting me out my trance. I faintly smiled, as he sat down next to me.
âHey, how was the trip?â I found myself asking. Iâm telling yâall right now, our communication has been off, and I donât know what it is, but this needs to happen. I donât care, weâre talking about his drop.
âIt was aiight, nothing too bad.â He shrugged, looking out the front window.
âAye! Lele, Ty and I are gon go out back. Weâll leave yâall be.â Dondre called out to us, I meshed my eyebrows as to why they would want to leave us alone, but I shrugged it off. Kid nodded his head, and they dismissed themselves.
âWhat was that about?â I questioned, placing my calves under my thighs, getting more comfortable.
He released a breath, which scared me a bit. âI have to tell you something, Kim.â he said seriously, I felt a lump form in my throat, I nodded for him to continue. He began speaking, talking about how he cheated on me, and didnât mean for any of it to happen. To how he explained it to both Dre and Ty this morning. What the fuck?
- Dondre -
âYou tryna smoke, Le?â Ty asked, passing the blunt her way.
âNo thanks, Iâm good.â She politely declined his offer, he shrugged moving his hand back up to his mouth, âHow was the trip?â she asked, looking at me.
âIt was aiight, just a little bit of trouble, but nothing major.â I told her, causing her to look at me some type of way, and Ty to shake his head. âDonât look at me like that Lele, you should be happy I ainât lie.â
She sighed, nodding her head âYouâre right, so anything else happen?â she asked, we shook our heads. âOh, thatâs what I need to tell yâall.â She remembered, with an âoh yeahâ tone.
âWassup?â I asked, leaning back into the chair.
âKim was telling me that she thinks Kid is hiding something from her.â She meshed her brows, well shit, only if she knew. Before Ty and I could say anything, we were cut off by Kim yelling.
âFUCK YOU DERRICK! HOW COULD YOU?!â she roared.
âWhat the fuck?â Arielle muttered to herself âWhat happened?â she asked, Ty and I ainât answer her and that only got her more upset âSo yâall donât hear me? What happened, Maurice?â Her voice came out more stern. Releasing a breath, I told her the information that I received early this morning.
We all got interrupted due to hearing them yell at one another back and forth. Arielle was the first to enter the house, with both Ty and I following after. Fuck.
âI hate you, you bitch ass nigga. You kept it away that long? For fuckin what? I have no idea, but you are beyond dumb.â Kim spat, inhaling a breath âOver a fucking petty argument? Really Derrick? You just gon fuck some hoe cause of some bullshit that couldâve been resolved within a day.â She was fuming.
âNah, Ionât wanna hear it Kim. How bout that nigga, Tyrone, you was all up in his face for what? I donât know.â Kid argued back.
âEXACTLY! You donât know, we had a project to do. Fuck your dumb ass logic, forreal. And fuck you too. Hope that fuck was worth it, I canât stand you.â She pushed pass him, with Arielle following behind her out to the front.
âFUCK!â Kid shouted, shaking his head. Ty and I were both quiet, there ainât shit to say, cause this fool knows heâs wrong.
âNO, ARIELLE! Fuck him on everything. Bitch ass!â We heard Kim yell. Yeah, they over forreal.
- Arielle -
âKim, breathe. Calm down.â I coached, tryna get her breathing to a stable level. She was breathin harsh, causing her to shake some due to how mad she was. I have never witnessed her mad, and this is a whole other level.
âNO, ARIELLE! Fuck him on everything. Bitch ass!â Kim yelled, clenching her fists. There was no getting to Kim, my girl was fuming right now. I canât believe Derrick, thatâs foul. I love him like a brother, and for him to stoop that low is harsh.
Shaking my head, I released a breath âKim, listen to me. Take your ass inside, and yâall are gonna finish this conversation. No yelling.â I ordered.
âYes mother.â She rolled her eyes, huffing. I shook my head and we walked back into the house.
âI ainât no bitch either.â Kid spat, once we entered the living room.
âNigga, yes you are. Only bitch niggas cheat, and therefore youâre a bitch in this situation.â Kim retorted. Kid was about to fire back, but I cut him short.
âBoth of yâall shut the fuck up! Sit down.â I said sternly, they both huffed, but sat down, separate sides of the living room. âNow that we are all in here, try to have a civil conversation.â
âThere ainât shit to say, she said all what she wanted to.â Kid waved me off, putting his head into the palm of his hand.
Kim chuckled bitterly âItâs funny, cause I actually thought you loved me Derrick. If you loved me, you wouldâve fought for me to not give up on you. But by the looks of it, it looks like youâre the one giving up on us.â Her voice cracked, she shook her head, wiping at her eyes. Damn, thatâs deep.
âWhat you want me to do? Kiss your ass, and act like everything will go back to normal?â He rhetorically asked, meshing his brows.
âI canât deal with this.â She said more to herself, soon looking at him, âI want you to man the hell up, and realize that we could move pass this shit. But obviously you donât want that. You wanna go back to your player bullshit? Then by all means, go ahead. No oneâs stoppin you. Youâre now a single man, do as you please.â She released a breath, taking off the necklace he gave her, with a promise ring hanging on the chain, soon tossing it onto the table. âSorry that yâall had to be involved.â She apologized to Dre, Ty and I, we nodded our heads as she walked out the house. Soon hearing her car pull off the street. Damn.
There was silence throughout my house, eye contact not being made whatsoever. We were all just taking it in. Sighing, I knew that our group will never be the same. When I tell you that school is bout to be awkward, I mean that itâs really gonna be awkward.
âSo your mama thought my mama was a problem, thatâs why she didnât want yâall around?â I asked, still racking this information around my brain. That ainât right, no wonder why Hakeemâs mama would always give Heather and I the cold shoulder when we went to grannyâs house on the weekends.
âYeah, I had just found out not to long ago. My mama had no right to be like that, but thatâs when my dad shouldâve took it in his own hands and make it right.â Hakeem shook his head, soon sliding his hand down his face, letting out a frustrated breath.
âYeah.â I sighed, feeling my forehead form lines âHowâs uncle Kojo, though?â I asked. Itâs been maybe 5 1/2 years since Iâve seen uncle Kojo, we talked every other month, but those soon stopped. Now I know the reason why.
âHeâs alright, heâs been taking it hard since he didnât go to auntieâs funeral. He sends his condolences, he also told me heâs gon make a trip down here so he can see you and Heather.â He informed, I nodded my head, sniffling a bit âHowâs aunt Nicki though, she holdin tight?â
Releasing a breath âSheâs good surprisingly, she took the lost hard, but sheâs keeping up the strong act as of now. I seen her breakdown a couple times in her own lonesome.â I shook my head âHer boyfriend is good peoples, heâs keeping her sane.â
âThatâs good.â He licked his lips âShe know Iâm out here?â
âNah, you tryna see her?â I asked, he nodded his head âThen make the call fool.â I laughed, he stay tryna surprise people, but I guess pop ups are good too.
âI will, little cousin. Chill.â He laughed, âBut real shit, how are we gon get the family to gather together?â
Shrugging, I couldnât really place it âProbably talk to aunt Nicki about it, you know how much sheâs been wanting the family to come together as one for some time now.â I reminded.
âYou right, Iâm gon hit her up.â He stood up, pulling up his pants âIâll see yâall soon. Be safe Ari.â
âOkay, and you too Keem.â I said, standing up as well, engulfing him into a hug. âTell uncle Kojo that I love and miss him, alright?â we broke our hug, he nodded his head, and I walked him to the door. Hopefully this all works out.

Checking the time, it was going on one in the morning, the drop was successful, just a minor problem, but everything came through. Yawning, I couldnât wait to get home and just sleep.
âDre, can I tell you sumân.â Kid muttered, rubbing at his eyes. I took my eyes off the road for a bit to look at him, soon drifting back to the slight traffic.
âWassup?â I licked my lips, looking through both mirrors, soon the rear view to see that Tyson was knocked out cold. That nigga could never hang on these long ass drops.
âI fucked up, dawg.â He released a stressed breath âThis is something that Kim would never forgive me for.â
âWhat you do, bruh?â I asked, looking at the sign seeing that we had 75 more miles before we get back to Los Angeles. My ass hurts from driving this damn long, canât do it.
âMan, you know that bitch Tanya?â He asked, I nodded my head, letting him continue âAiight, so that one game against the Knights, when Kim and I had got into an argument, she ainât come to the game. So afterwards Tanya came up to me, congratulating a nigga, and some more.â He released a breath.
I diverted my attention to him âYou sayin you fucked ole girl, cause of what happened?â I pieced the info he gave me. He has got to be one stupid ass muhfucka.
He licked his lips âIt wasnât even like that in the beginning tho. We went to get sumân to eat after the game, and that bitch seduced me cuh.â He shook his head.
âThen yo dumb ass shouldâve never took her out to dinner, what the fuck was you thinkin? You knew that bitch Tanya was messy from the jump.â I spat, shaking my head in a frustrated manner. âWhy you now just comin out with the info?â I asked, after a minute of silence.
Kid ran his hand down his face âCause man, that shit has been eating at me for a hot minute. That happened, what? Two weeks ago.â He said, shaking his head.
âNigga, you need to tell her.â I protested âIt ainât my place to do so, Ionât wanna be involved. But Kim is like my sister, dawg, so you better tell her.â I stated, he just nodded his head.
The rest of the drive was silent, lookin back at Ty he was still sleep, he prolly heard, but Ionât know. Tyson is protective over the girls, as if they were his own blood. That nigga probably would go full ape shit if he found out about what Kid did.

Dondre pulling off the exit, I was more than ready to touch base at home. Ionât know why I did that foolish act, knowing that it would hurt Kim. I love that girl, I just donât know why I would stoop that low to hurt her. Petty ass arguments are bullshit, man.
âSo you cheated on Kim?â I heard Tyâs voice from the backseat, shit this nigga and his ears.
Sighing, I nodded my head âYeah, it wasnât intentional though bruh. Tanya seduced me.â I truthfully stated.
âYou my boy and all Derrick, but you dead wrong.â He shook his head, looking down at his watch âYou need to tell Kim, dawg, before someone else gets to her.â
âI hear you, man. I will today.â I informed, he nodded his head, leaving it at that. Looking at the clock on the dashboard it read 3:05 AM, releasing a breath this shit is gon be difficult. Ionât know how Kim is gonna feel, most importantly Ionât want us done. Shaking my head of the negatives, I have to get it together.
âYâall just wanna crash at my place?â Dondre broke the silence, Ty and I muttered âyeahsâ âAiight, coo. I didnât feel like taking yâall asses home.â He laughed, causing us to chuckle alongside of him.
âYou gon drop this money off to Jaylenâs warehouse first, right?â Tyson asked.
âYeah, man. Weâll be there in the next ten minutes.â Dre informed. The rest of the ride was silent, which didnât bother me, it gave me more time to think and how I would settle this upcoming conversation.Â
Lately things have been different, the crew has changed up a bit. The boys have been busier than ever the past couple of weeks, and Rita is in her own world since sheâs pregnant. Not knocking anyoneâs hustle, but damn we have been distant, itâs just like that time when Arielle and Dondre had that falling out a while back. Just stressful and quiet, ainât no moves being made.
âWhatâs wrong with you?â Kidâs voice interrupted my thoughts, as him and the boys entered Leleâs living room.
Shaking my head, releasing a breath âNothing, things just been different lately babe. I missed you.â I sighed, laying my head on his shoulder.
âI missed you too, babe.â He kissed the top of my head âBut we gon be leaving again tonight, got shit to handle in Oakland.â He muttered.
Letting out a breath, I blinked away the tears âAlright, be safe.â I kissed the side of his mouth, soon pecking his lips a couple more times. I really love Kid, and if something were to happen to him, Ionât know how I would handle that.
- Dondre -
âBaby, can you stop.â I voiced, grabbing hold of Arielleâs waist, so she could look at me âNothin is gon happen to me or the boys, weâll be fine.â
âI just donât want anything to happen to yâall.â She said into my chest, holdin onto me tight. I donât know what this girl has done to me, but she making me go weak for her. Shaking my head, I kissed her forehead, rocking us back and forth. âDrive safe, alright?â
âI know Arielle, stop stressin yourself out.â I said, looking into her eyes, she nodded her head causing her cheeks to get more wet with the stream of tears rolling down her face. âStop cryin, ma.â I pecked her lips.
âSorry.â She muttered âPlease come back in one piece, I mean it.â She pointed her manicured nail in my face, with a pouty yet stern look upon her face.
âI got it Lele.â I let out a breath, kissing her pouty lips âWhat you gon do while we make this trip?â I asked, standing up straight, walking over to her kitchen table taking a seat.
âMeeting up with Hakeem again, we didnât really talk much the last time.â She blew out a frustrated breath âIâm just gon tell him to come here, Ionât feel like driving.â she stated. I only chuckled, knowing that she just wants to lounge around the house.
âAiight, tell him that, instead of lookin at me.â I said, baby was lookin at me as if she wanted to do something, sheâs been giving me that look for some time now, but I ainât gon be the one to pressure her into doing something. Have to make sure she is fully comfortable in wanting us to go to that level.
âNigga, lets go.â Tyson walked into the kitchen âSee you later sis, yâall be good.â
âIâm always good Tyson, yâall be good.â Arielle shook her head, grabbing her phone soon texting away.
âAlways got shit to say.â He muttered under his breath, causing me to chuckle. âYou ready, man?â He asked lookin down at me.
âYeah, foo. Iâll meet yâall out front.â I informed, lifting myself up off the chair. He nodded his head, walking out the kitchen. Walking towards Arielle, I wrapped my arms around her tiny frame âI love you, Lele. Iâll text you when I get in.â I said, kissing the top of her head.
âI love you too Dre.â She smiled, soon scooting back some to look up at me âDrive safe.â I nodded my head, giving her a final kiss on the lips. Taking hold of her hand, we walked out the kitchen and into the living room, she hugged me once more soon taking her seat next to Kim. We said our final âgoodbyesâ and left out her house.
âYâall ready for Oakland?â Kid asked, unlocking the doors, we soon got in. Tyson and I both muttered âyeahsâ. This bout to be a long ass drop, 5 hours up, and 5 hours back. Shit is tiring, if you ask me.
- Arielle -
Sighing, I just have to think positive, hoping nothing bad happens to them. Looking down at my phone, it was going on 4:45 in the afternoon, they wonât be back till the morning, depending on traffic. A text notification coming through, knowing it was Hakeem, I looked at the text, reading that he would be here in the next ten minutes.
âLele, I think Kid is hiding something from me.â Kimâs voice broke me from my thoughts. Scrunching my face up, I looked in her direction.
âWhy you think that?â I asked, curiosity laced in my tone. She has nothing to worry about, well thatâs my opinion. Kid hasnât done anything for Kim to question their relationship.
She shrugged âIonât know, but we been distant as of late. We barely text, and when weâre at school heâs always talkin to these other girls. Like does he not see me?â She rhetorically asked, scrunching up her nose.
âKim, yâall just need to have a talk, thatâs the only way yâall are gonna settle things.â I stated, she nodded her head, letting out a breath. Theyâve been together for damn near six months, so they should be able to talk it out.
âAnyways, what you got planned for the rest of the day?â She asked.
âFinish this talk with Hakeem, heâs on his way over.â I informed, she nodded her head, sinking into the couch âWhat about you?â
âEh, might stay here for a bit.â She said, looking at me with pleading eyes. I just chuckled, nodding my head. âThanks, and when Keem comes, Iâll go in your room.â
