A lot of older franchises are coming back and with BioWare's Anthem nearing its release and confirmation that Dragon Age 4 is on the way and Mass Effect will be revisited, it's hard not to get a little excited about what other studio favorites could be making a comeback. If we're going off of a trademarks spotted, it looks like Jade Empire could be the next one up!

The new trademark was filed on January 22nd and it's pretty straight forward as far as trademarks go. It's not uncommon to see publishers filed to remain rights to their franchises, especially one such as Jade Empire that has a cult following. The intent as listed is to keep the Jade Empire name for “entertainment services, namely, providing an on-line computer game” but could also potentially be a hint that a potential remaster, or new game entirely, could be on the way.

With Microsoft having added Jade Empire to their backwards compatibility list back in Spring 2018, the interest was renewed in seeing this fan favorite. There were also originally plans for a second game, though that was later scrapped.

Earlier last year, Mark Mike Laidlaw [edit: lol, paste of the article contained the article’s error; thanks for flagging @oneneatcat!] mentioned that BioWare “certainly had some plans” for said sequel, and “it existed” for some time, but it ended up going on the backburner. "Jade Empire 2 was talked about, it was certainly considered. In a universe where there could be a Beyond Good and Evil 2 14 years later, I think it's very possible there could still be a Jade [Empire] 2. If someone said to me, 'Hey what would you do with Jade [Empire] 2?' I have an answer. I have a very clear answer in my head, but I also recognize that a majority of the leadership of Jade Empire 2, the people who are really the passionate vision holders, are all on Dragon Age."

Lana did everything in her power to keep from snapping the datapad in her hands in two.

Most of the trails had ended cold. The operation on Copero had only lead the Alliance so far, and Theron was proving himself capable for his masters – the Order of Zildrog. She had underestimated him.

But no longer.

Meditation and fury had helped her through sleepless days and nights. When she had told Veselko that no one would sleep until Theron was found, she of course meant herself – though the entire Alliance was following by example as best they could.

She would tear the galaxy apart to make the traitorous coward pay.

Walking with purpose towards Veselko’s quarters, she already had words prepared for him, who had slipped away to analyze some data. He had told her to come to him if she had any news – for good or ill.

“Commander,” she said, stepping through the open door. “It grieves me to report that–”

She glanced about the room, not seeing Veselko at all. Just when she was on the edge of panic, she saw a figure in a chair, slumped over the desk on the far side of the room.

“Veselko,” she said on an intake of breath as she strode towards him.

A gentle snore caught her attention, stopping her in her tracks just a couple of steps away.

Upon the desk was an open datapad, half-eaten rations, and an empty cup. Veselko was resting his head upon crossed arms, fast asleep.

Lana was at first surprised that her loud entrance did not stir the trained agent. But as she stepped closer, she studied the deepened color around his eyes, the darkening of his stubble that he usually kept clean. He had put on a brave face for everyone, but it was getting harder for him to pretend that he was all right.

Harder for him to pretend that his heart wasn’t broken.

You haven’t had a moment’s respite since I rescued you from the carbonite, she thought to herself as her fury turned cold.

Tucking the datapad away in her belt, she fetched the blanket from Veselko’s bed, and gently draped it over his back. He seemed to stir for a moment, eyes fluttering, but then quickly settled back into slumber.

Lana smoothed the blanket upon his shoulders, then held her hands there.

I suppose I haven’t been fair to you either, my friend. Lana’s thumbs brushed over the tightness in his shoulders, hoping above all else that Theron wounded himself as deeply.

All of the Andromeda ladies stole my heart tbh 💘 It was tough to choose between Peebee and Suvi and Vetra. And Reyes. Not a lady, but that Zevran charm of his got my heart pumping fast :3 (I actually did get stuck in the situation where Sofia had to break up with Reyes :P I assumed it was just a fling, but when Sofia returned to the ship and could no longer flirt with Peebs I had to reload that mission and pretend Sofia was mad that he lied about being a certain someone.)
