I thought "Spooky Month"/Halloween Time was the perfect time to draw One-ler since he's probably one of the scariest Once-lers in the fandom. I was excited to draw him as I normally don't draw edgy art so it seemed like a fun challenge, and because I've drawn his Thneedville High AU counterpart so much but not him. So here he is! I made three different versions as I've seen him in a few different suit colors, but the deep, dark red was my favourite!

I decided to draw One's genderbent version as I thought she was such a pretty goth girl (also because I drew another Once-ler she's shipped with as a girl and wanted them to be cute lesbians, you can see her in my next post xD). I love her hair, that's ponytail goals right there. I also wasn't sure how to draw her shirt because I've seen some One-ler fanarts where his shirt has nothing on it, and other ones where it has a butterfly on it, but I wasn't sure what the butterfly was from or how to draw it so I decided to draw Jack Skellington inspired by this funny post by Swag xD. (Jack Skellington is both a Tim Burton character and popular on Hot Topic merch, lol). Also I think she's supposed to have a chain on her pants, sorry if I missed or messed up any other details ;o;

I'll be honest and say my hsp/anxiety self was pretty scared of One-ler at first (if you don't know about the character and are very sensitive or squeamish maybe don't look into it, she's very horror genre inspired) but I talked to Miru about it and she was so sweet, kind, comforting and supportive and really helped me feel better! It means so much to me you helped me through anxiety Miru, thank you so much :3🙏❤️

Then I thought about how beloved this character was, in the early fandom days esspecially, and about the fact this is somebody's OC who they would have loved dearly and poured their heart and soul into! I also realized I was taking it too seriously (I tend to do that with fictional scary things, like it's not real :P) and that obviously One-ler's mod didn't at all create her character to scare or offend anybody!! We all create our OCs to have fun and connect with others and that's part of the beauty of this fandom!

This fandom has brought so many people together and allows so much creative freedom and artistic expression and that's a beautiful thing! The creativity of the Onceler Fandom is part of what makes it so special and feel like a safe place for so many people! (also the horror genre can be appealing to some people because it represents metaphorical darkness in lots of ways, and we've all been through darkness in our lives and deserve a healthy way to vent, like with art! If you're easily spooked like me that's totally okay and you don't have to engage at all! But please be respectful of people's OCs, this is a very personal fandom :3).
