any analysis of religious or magical behavior that refuses to acknowledge that magic is real --that it is a real tendency, a real thing, that it arises from real phenomena and has real affects on the world and on people-- is going to be fundamentally flawed and unable to adequately explain or understand the behavior or lives of the people it is trying to analyze. u will always only flatten the depth and beauty and terror of human experience into a museum curio unless you reckon with the reality of spirits

i think 'stay outraged' and other things of that nature are more of a magical activism goal than a material one. an idea of ritual upset or mourning or fury as an end in itself. which is fine as far as magic goes but should be categorized separately from more material goals

this is my haterism but i do think its weird to do reconstructionist celtic or norse or whatever religion in america because those guys dont live here. the sacred hill of your ancestors is very far away they are not heeding your ass
