29. What is a book/story from your childhood that has stuck with you?

Oh there are so many. I was an AVID reader and some of them fundamentally changed my brain chemistry. I'm going to tell a couple of stories.

#1: Interview with the Vampire

Thought I had dreamed it up for like YEARS of my childhood, all I remembered was the bit of Daniel in his car listening to the tapes and Lestat popping up and biting him. But I legitimately did not remember watching it, I only remembered it like a dream, and then I found out it was real and I lost my mind.

You are having A Craving and send Cardi to the grocery store to get some Oreos. After an hour has gone by, you become worried and go to call him and ask if he's okay. You left your phone in the other room, and find approximately 10 missed calls and 60 increasingly frantic text messages.

-What kind of Oreos do you want? -Did you want double stuf? -There's even a triple stuf now -What is a Golden Oreo? Do you want these? -They make mint ones now too??? -Baby please there are so many kinds of Oreos -This one says its cake batter flavor? Why is a cookie cake batter?! -PICK UP PLEASE I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO -THE SAME EMPLOYEE HAS WALKED BY THREE TIMES NOW -I think the girl stocking shelves is laughing at me -Do I just get all of them? -I'd have to walk all the way back to the front of the store to get a cart for that He finally sends you a video of himself sitting on the cold tile floor of the supermarket. Multiple boxes of Oreos have been ripped open. There are crumbs all around his mouth and tears in his eyes as he explains that he had to taste-test them all to figure out what you would like. In the background you hear someone calling for a manager over the PA and he starts to cry again.

I love everything about this and this is exactly how he would react, poor pookie. Thank you for blessing my inbox 😊

I feel like in my specific situation I actually sent him to the store to pick up @ominouslatinchanting from his shift and told Cardi to tell HIM to get oreos, because in this hypothetical polycule that's how it would shake out, but Cardi misunderstood and now husband one has to scrape husband two off the floor of the snack aisle

I've been chewing this over and I think I've decided. I'm a little iffy on a couple of choices still though.

Nihil: One of those Disney's Robin Hood style foxes. I think he could pull it off. This is a rare case where both his choice and my choice for him would align. It's attractive and has some latent fuckboy energy I can't quite put my finger on

Primo: If you explained the concept of a fursona to him he'd pick Demon or something and you'd have to then explain no, an animal, and he'd be salty. I considered goat because Satan but no way he's picking a prey animal - though I think he'd also strongly consider Fly because Satan (and again I would have to explain to him that fursonas usually don't include insects because of the ick and then he would tell me that in that case furries are weak and will not survive the coming apocalypse). I am assigning him dolphin or orca. Because of popular attractions and some media people like them and think they're benevolent but they're secretly murder machines. Also the idea of him as a humanoid cetacean in his miter and party city robe is hilarious to me

Secondo: I have seen some fan art and stuff associating him with snakes and while that's cool aesthetically to me I don't think that's what he'd go for in a fursona nor is that what I'd pick for him. I think for Himself he would choose a lion. Male lions are surrounded by Ladies (and a full head of hair). I actually think I'd assign him a wolf? Social animal but still with some bite (moreso than a doggo). Also Secondo as a wolf would make a great guest star in a Powerwolf music video

Terzo: I considered cat and I think it's what he'd choose for himself. Sleek loners with mystique who enjoy getting petted and are well loved but not universally. A little tuxedo cat. I am however assigning him raccoon. He has miscreant energy, is a bit too feral to be a cat, and I can easily see this happening to him

Cardi: Fandom has assigned him Rat and it's a good assignment and definitely what suits him. @necropolitus pitched me that if he were picking for himself, it would be a big imposing dog, like a bulldog, and I one thousand percent agree, no notes. I feel like in assigning him a fursona I am meeting in the middle. Cardi is a chihuahua. Thinks he is a big dog, will bite ankles, but also needs to be wrapped in a blanket because just being in the air is enough to make him stand there and shake.
