Thereâs a point where he starts to feel invincible and he knows he needs to reel it in lest his cockiness gets the best of him.
â Yeah... I know. â He plops himself down, hand running across his face and smearing blood, sweat, and dirt on the back of his cardigan. He thinks itâs worth it. After all, they have a new member. Head lifts to look at the shaking first year that still clings to his robes.Â

â you are not broken . â Anna
ITâS SOMETHING SHE THOUGHT SHE WANTED TO HEAR,  but as the words from Annaâs resolute voice wash over her she realizes -- maybe she doesnât. she casts a quick glance at her hands, pale and bare at her sides, so innocent looking despite what power they concealed. she thinks back over the years sheâd spent locked away, the things sheâd heard Anna whisper through the door. the sensation of painted wood against her back haunts her still. the sight of Annaâs crystallized eyes, her stiff body -- those images plague her even worse. freed as she may be from the kind of chains that had held her down so long, she will never take for granted the thing sheâs capable of. she will never be perfectly pieced back together.
â I am, actually. â  the flat tone surprises even her for a moment, the mark of a kind of assurance sheâs never known before. it strikes her as funny almost, that the first real sense of confidence sheâs ever felt is in asserting her brokenness. but thereâs a kind of power in that too. her fingers curl at her sides, the quiet hum of the cold reverberating against her skin.  â there are things I will never properly recover from. thereâs too much we canât undo. â  it would be foolish to try and deny her splintered edges when they shine so obviously in the winter sun. and she doesnât want to. theyâre scars, ugly and painful, but theyâre also markers of who she is now, pieces of her soul that have found their way to the light.Â
â I donât think you or I are better for it, â  the very notion is an asinine one to her mind, the mere suggestion turning her stomach. there is no justification, not explanation for the things they had been forced to see as children. there is no reason they should be where they are now. but they are. â but I think itâs better to acknowledge what I am than pretend it isnât there. thatâs the only way I know how to move forward. no more lying. Iâve lied enough to you. â ( and I think youâve more than proven yourself capable of handling truth. ) her throat tightens -- how old Anna seems to her now. it strikes her, as she sees the grace and maturity her sister as grown into, just how much sheâs missed.  â and I wonât ever do that again. â
with a small burst of nerve she takes Annaâs hands, her grip tight. sheâd rather have this -- some broken pieces to put back together in a new way, a fractured heart that can find a new rhythm. ( you have so much to unlearn. )  â I promise that I wonât do anything perfectly, but Iâll do it. and weâll be enough -- jagged edges and all. â
@omenbroughtâ / my horoscope said that i shouldnât assume responsibility for anybody but myself today. - margo
scoff  leaves  lips  as  arms  fall  flat  against  her  sides.  gaze  stays  on  margo  as  she  leans  by  the  door  frame,  the  loudest  scream  threatening  to  push  through  her  lungs  but  red  succeessfully  manages  to  keep  her  anger  at  bay.    â  does  your  horoscope  say  anything  about  pseudo  boyfriends  who  throw  unnecessary  parties  downstairs?  â   clearly  a  jab  at  margoâs  latest  flame  who  is  stepping  a  little  too  much  out  of  their  zone.    â  get  out  of  that  dumb  app  and  text  him  to  get  back  in  his  place,  before  i  burn  down  his  room.  â
iâm going to deal with this myself. - from Anna
â ABSOLUTELY NOT. â  she doesnât even hesitate before saying it. years of history keep her from reaching for Anna, but her words will land on her sister with same intensity as touch.  the thought of Anna going out on this quest ALONE, it turns her stomach.  she wants Hans punished as much as Anna, if not more, but she wonât risk her sisterâs life. ( not ever again. not even if she has to give her own. ) Â
but another side of her refuses to chain Anna with the same kind of fear her parents had. walls and doors and locks and keys offer no real safety ---- they both know that all too well. no, she has no authority to forbid her sister from going after this; and, knowing Anna, she likely couldnât even if she desperately wanted to. the choice hovers over her, clear as ice.     Â
â Iâm going with you, â  Elsa asserts, mind whirling with the preparations, the risks,  the war she could be inciting with her presence. queens do not go after their own vendettas. queens are not vengeful creatures. that haunted look in Annaâs eyes prods at the cracks in her surface, though. ( when have you ever been a perfect queen ? ) Â
â and thatâs final. I wonât lose you again, understand ?  youâve made enough sacrifices on the part of others to last your lifetime, â  she shudders away the unwanted memories, the unnatural glint of Annaâs frozen eyes, the light that shone from her snow-streaked hair. â and mine. â
