It’s been a long time since I’ve posted any roleplays but this one was so cute and I loved it to pieces. Thank you stranger for roleplaying this with me - you were absolutely brilliant <3
You're now chatting with a random stranger. Say hi!
You both like johnlock, and omegaverse.
You: I can’t make it to class today, sir. Sorry. I’ll have the work in as soon as I’m back. JW [18, John has a child which no one else knows about. Can be omegaverse.]
Stranger:Â The deadline for your paper is non negotiable, Mr. Watson, you know my rules.-SH
You:Â I know, I wouldn't do this if it wasn't serious. JW
Stranger:Â Are you dying?-SH
You:Â No.. JW
Stranger:Â Have you sustained serious bodily injury?-SH
You:Â Not exactly.. JW
Stranger:Â Not exactly? That is rather a black and white question.-SH
You:Â Look. I'll try to get the paper in by later today. Things are just really complicated right now. JW
Stranger:Â [Delayed] What is so incredibly complicated?-SH
You:Â I just made some massive mistakes and now they're coming back to haunt me, seriously bad, my family kicked me out of my house a few weeks ago and I don't even think any of my friends want to know. It's just complicated and something I don't think I can talk to my teacher about. JW
Stranger:Â I see.-SH
Stranger:Â If you require assistance, I can put you in contact with someone who may help you.-SH
You:Â Could you? I just really need a place to stay. JW
Stranger:Â Of course. I'll have one of the counselors from school contact you.-SH
You:Â Thank you, I guess I should have thought about that. JW
Stranger:Â People in distress are unlucky to consider all their options.-SH
You:Â Yes. I've just been really scared and alone.. still am. JW
Stranger:Â I suppose that is to be expected, given the fact your parents threw you out.-SH
You:Â I didn't really expect it to happen. JW
Stranger:Â I find parents to be tedious and complicated.-SH
You:Â Tell me about it. JW
You:Â Thank you for listening to me. JW
Stranger:Â Of course. I've been told I needed to work on my 'compassion, tact and consideration', so it's a win-win for all parties involved.-SH
You:Â You've done well. I'm speaking to one of the counselors right now. JW
Stranger:Â Have they been able to provide you with a place to stay?-SH
You:Â Yeah, a small flat close to here. They've manage to work out some support that I can, money wise, so that I can pay for it. JW
Stranger:Â That is good to hear.-SH
You:Â [Delayed] They told me that I need to tell you the whole truth. JW
Stranger:Â What does it matter if I know the whole truth.-SH
You:Â So that you understand the circumstances more? JW
Stranger:Â If you feel the need to.-SH
You:Â [Delayed] I don't really want to.. But. I have a baby. That's why my parents kicked me out, that's why my friends completely deserted me. JW
Stranger:Â Over a child?-SH
You:Â Yes. JW
Stranger:Â People can be quite stupid.-SH
You:Â I guess. I deserve it, really, it's all my fault. JW
Stranger:Â I do not believe having a child is a decent reason to abandon someone.-SH
You:Â They must think differently to you. I'm thinking of putting her up for adoption anyway.. I can't cope alone.. JW
Stranger:Â Have you contacted the other party involved?-SH
You:Â No, I don't really want to. JW
Stranger:Â Perhaps they could help you.-SH
You:Â They're not the sort of person that I'd want to get a child involved with.. I kept everything a secret, from everyone, I never wanted anyone to find out.. JW
Stranger:Â Ah, hence the mistakes.-SH
You:Â Yes, it was just kind of.. a casual relationship. Friends with benefits.. I guess, then things just spiraled out of control. JW
Stranger:Â I have no advice to give in this situation. I have never experienced that.-SH
You:Â Understandable. I don't even know why I'm telling you all this. JW
Stranger:Â I am the only person listening.-SH
You:Â Yes, that is very true. JW
Stranger:Â May I ask how old your daughter is?-SH
You:Â Only a few days old.. JW
Stranger:Â Where have you been staying?-SH
You:Â In a homeless shelter. JW
You:Â [BRB - sorry!]
Stranger:Â That is possibly the worst place for a newborn, John.-SH
Why don't you come here until your flat is ready?-SH
You:Â I know, not my decision really. Seriously? Would you do that for me? JW
Stranger:Â A newborn needs a sterile environment, not a disease ridden homeless shelter.-SH
You:Â Yes, I know. Soon she'll have a better home anyway.. JW
Stranger:Â A better home without you?-SH
You:Â Yeah. JW
Stranger:Â That is debatable. A child without her parent is not always better off.-SH
You:Â She would be better off without me, I don't know what I'm doing, I've spent most of my time crying as much as she does. JW
Stranger:Â Perhaps you are experiencing postpartum depression. Given the situation, it seems quite likely.-SH
Bring her here.-SH
You:Â To school? JW
Stranger:Â No, I suppose you do not wish to bring her here, that's true.-SH
221B Baker Street. Ms. Hudson will let you upstairs.-SH
You:Â Okay, thank you. This means a lot. JW
Stranger:Â Of course.-SH
You:Â [Shall I move to paragraphs?]
Stranger:Â (That would be lovely!)
You:Â John took the cab the minute that he stopped texting Sherlock, cradling the small baby in his arms and a bag, full with a few of his clothes and some baby stuff. He was lucky that one of the women that helped run the shelter had a load of old baby stuff from some of her children who were now grown up and she gave them to him. It was all basic stuff, just a bottle and a few toys and clothes and a blanket but it was more than appreciated. He arrived at the flat shortly and paid with some loose cash he still had before he headed to the door and knocked. He was glad to be greeted by a women he guessed was Ms. Hudson, who lead him upstairs and cooed over the baby.
Stranger:Â Sherlock eventually packed his school bag, with papers to be graded and left the school. He stopped off at the shops and picked up some formula and food for them, knowing that Ms. Hudson would do her part to settle John in until he was able to arrive. It was two hours before he unlocked the door to his building, two bags of shopping in his hands. "I see you've settled in. I hope Ms. Hudson did not fawn over the baby to much. The woman has a terrible weak spot for children, I've come to find out." he moved to the kitchen, setting the shopping on the counter. "I picked up a few things for you and the baby, I was unsure how much you had, given the circumstance."
You:Â Ms. Hudson was more than welcoming, she made him a cup of tea and put on the TV for him while she chatted about the baby and him and Sherlock. He just listened and nodded before she told him to just relax until Sherlock got back, which was exactly what he did, just cradling the baby and holding her close until she fell asleep before drank his tea and watched the TV till he heard Sherlock coming in and he smiled a bit, watching him carefully. "No, she was lovely." He said and then laughed a bit before he looked over the shopping bags. "Seriously, you didn't have to." He muttered, feeling a bit guilty.
Stranger:Â Sherlock pulled a face at the younger boy before unpacking the bottles and formula. "What sort of host would I be if I asked you to come to a flat not outfitted for a child?" he asked, not enjoying stupid statements as such. "There is a new bottle set, formula, diapers. I wasn't sure if you were...breastfeeding or not, but it's not a terrible idea to supplement any way." he moved to put the adult food away. "There's a room upstairs with a bed and sheets in the closet. Though I do not have a..." Sherlock was interrupted by Ms. Hudson entering the flat with a bassinet and some baby blankets in her arms. "Crib..." Sherlock finished, moving to help her. "Here, John. I use this when my grandchildren come to visit. Keep it as long as you need." she said before taking her dishes back down stairs when she left.
You:Â "I am trying.." John said at the statement about the breastfeeding although he wasn't doing very well to be honest, he was considering giving up at this point. He looked upstairs at the room before Sherlock was unable to finish what he was saying before Ms. Hudson walked in and he smiled softly at her, looking down at the bassinet and god, he felt like crying. "Thank you." He said before she headed back downstairs and he didn't even know how to respond. He had felt so alone for days, now he was getting all of this and people that generally seemed to care about him. He quickly looked away as he felt the tears trickling down his cheek and he tried to hide them as much as he could. It was embarrassing.
Stranger:Â Sherlock moved into the sitting room, setting the bassinet on the table. He ignored the boy's tears, unsure and uncomfortable in the situation. John was, after all, his student. It wasn't appropriate for too much to occur between them. Though Sherlock supposed he would be granted some sort of medal for working on his 'compassion'. "Stress makes it harder for both parent and child to find much success in nursing, or so I've read. Again, I've never had children, or a family for that matter. So my only resources are the articles I find."
You:Â "Yeah.. I guess that's why it's not working so well.." John said, trying to stop crying but it wasn't working so well. He decided to put the baby into the bassinet then, making sure she was comfortable at least this way he wouldn't disturb her sleep anymore. He wiped away his tears then, now that he had his hands free and took in some deep breathes. "I am so sorry." He whispered and then moved to sit down on the side of the chair and didn't dare look at Sherlock. "She doesn't even have a name yet."
Stranger:Â Sherlock passed him a box of tissues, turning again to give him some privacy. "It's fine, John, I suspect the relief is enough to make anyone tear up." he opened his laptop and pulled up a site full of baby names. "A few days old and no name?" he questioned. "That will hardly do, John. Why don't we find a name for her before she wakes up and wants to eat, hm?" he glanced up quickly to the boy before going back to his computer. "Are there no names you're interested in?"
You:Â John let out a small laugh then and took some tissues, wiping his eyes and nose. "No.. I just didn't have time to think about it all, you know?" He said before he nodded. "Okay, that sounds like a good idea.. I guess I need to actually call her something." He mumbled before he looked across the laptop and at all the names, biting down on his lip before he sighed a bit. "Amelia is quite nice.. and Emily too.. I just, I don't know.. I'm not good at this.."
Stranger:Â "Amelia.." Sherlock repeated. "A fairly average, yet unique name." he glanced at the sleeping girl on the table, who gave a small yawn, stretching in her sleep. "Perhaps she likes it? I am unsure whether that was simply coincidence or her agreeing to what she wishes to be called." he offered John a small smile, trying to awkwardly comfort the other. "Why don't you rest, John? You look like you haven't slept properly in weeks. I can watch her for you."
You:Â John smiled at that then before he looked over at her when she yawned, he couldn't help but think she looked adorable and for a moment, he didn't completely dislike her. "Amelia.. I like it.." He said and then nodded before he rubbed his eyes and stood up. "Okay, thank you. It has been a rough few weeks, the pregnancy.. Was awful, really, anyway.. I'll go upstairs. Thank you again." He commented before he quickly headed up the stairs and into the room. He got out the sheets and quickly made the bed before he slipped under the duvet, he was asleep within minutes.
Stranger:Â Sherlock set his work up on the desk, grading some tests and quizzes before Amelia began to whine in her bassinet. He stopped working and moved to stand over her for a few moments. Eventually he picked her up, noting she needed changing and moved to the couch. He changed her diaper and moved to the kitchen to fix her a bottle. Twenty minutes later, they were quietly staring at each other as she ate, cuddled on the sofa. He burped her and moved to lay her down, though she began to cry. Apparently she wished to be held. Sherlock sighed, and settled the girl in his arm and a paper in his other hand.
You:Â John woke up a few hours later with a small groan, he felt a bit better than he did before so he decided to pull himself out of bed, not liking the thought of Sherlock having to do everything. He got up and tided up the bed before he headed downstairs, stopping at the bottom step when he saw Amelia in Sherlock's arms and he smiled a bit before he walked towards them. "Seems like she likes you." He said softly before he sat down at the chair and rubbed his eyes a bit. "Don't get too attached." He added before he looked away a bit, looking around the flat a bit more.
Stranger:Â "She would be the first child to do so." he told the other, not looking up from his paper. "Children generally run away and avoid contact with me at all costs. I am not always...people friendly, either..." he added as a thought. He set the paper down when John mentioned not getting attached. "You're still considering adoption, then?" he asked. "I know it's none of my business, however, I think you should reconsider, John, there are plenty of young people who raise children successfully."
You:Â John just sighed and shrugged a bit then. "She likes you more than she likes me. All she ever does is cry when I'm around, I can't cope and I never will be able to cope alone." He commented and swallowed thickly. He simply hadn't bonded with the baby, with Amelia.. they hadn't had the time and now, it felt like he never could. It was hard, being unbonded, without a mate and alone with a baby, everything he had never wanted. He wanted children but he also wanted a stable relationship, a mate that he could trust and a family, not this.
Stranger:Â Sherlock rolled his eyes. "You two have not had the chance to bond properly, yes? Come here, John." he tossed the paper on the table and patted the spot next to him on the sofa. "I will help you but you have to trust me. She likes me because I am an Alpha, terrified pups always cling to them, it's ingrained in our genes, yes? But more than an Alpha, pups need their Omega." When John was settled next to him, he turned slightly. "Take off your jumper and unbutton the top of your shirt." he told the boy, as he moved to pull up Amelia's onesie, so that her chest was bare. He settled the girl on John's chest, to which the girl whined but settled comfortably. "Skin to skin contact.." he told the Omega.
You:Â John raised his eyebrows before he got up and sat next to Sherlock, listening to what he had to say, he wished he could believe it all but he didn't say a word and kept still and quiet before he did what he said, pulling off his jumper and placing it beside her before he undid the first few buttons on his shirt before he leaned back and let Sherlock place Amelia against his chest and he nodded a bit as he looked up at Sherlock. He watched as she made small noises but felt surprised when she settled, one of his hands coming to place gently on her back and held her closer. He smiled a bit and relaxed a bit more. This felt better, he felt calmer. "Thank you." He whispered. "This was certainly something we haven't done.."
Stranger:Â Sherlock remained close to the pair, wanting to be sure everything was alright before he leaned back into the sofa. "Ah, here.." he moved the blanket around Amelia, so that she did not get too cold. "The skin to skin allows pup and Omega to create an efficient bond. It also stimulates your body into producing the needed hormones to produce a sufficient supply of milk. Barring anything medically wrong with you, you should be able to attempt to nurse, if you'd like to that is." Sherlock cleared his throat after too many moments of staring at the pair of them. "Other wise, she seems to enjoy the formula."
You:Â He felt such a surge of something that he had not yet experienced, something he was sure that was instinct and deep inside him. The want to protect the little baby that laid close to his chest, making small noises that were nothing like he'd heard her make yet. He took in a deep breathe before moving to kiss the top of her head, closing his eyes for a moment before he turned to look at Sherlock a bit. "Yes.. I want to, I want to try at least.." John commented and stroked Amelia's back gently. "I want to try and be the best parent for her as I can.. but I'm scared that I won't, that I'll mess up.."
Stranger:Â Sherlock smiled at him. "I'm sure that is a fairly common fear for all new parents. I'm sure everyone makes mistakes, John, child rearing is hardly an easy profession. But I believe you have the heart for it. You care for others, put their needs and wants above your own. You are intelligent, and relatively strong willed. I'm sure if anyone could create a decent life for Amelia, you would be able to." he moved to put the papers away before he moved to the kitchen. "I'm going to make dinner for us, yes?"
You:Â John needed those words more than he had ever realised and he found himself smiling widely at him. "Thank you, that really means a lot. I hope that I can.." He commented before he looked down at her, she looked so content, he could hardly even believed it and he didn't want to move a muscle in case it upset her. "Okay, that would be lovely. Thank you, I haven't had a decent meal for ages." He added and then sighed happily, everything already felt so much better.
