Inktober day 3: crown - quill ink on printer paper

The second image is the first two pages of the zine. On the first page, a poem reads “I am a nature child, eyes bright and wild, innocent in my element.” Underneath the text, there is a silhouette of a butterfly. On the second page, there is text that reads “what is intersex? The term ‘intersex’ refers to over 40 variations in sex characteristics. This means chromosomes, genitalia, and hormones.” There is a graphic with three circles in a cluster.

The third image is the next two pages of the zine. On the third page, there is text in a bulletpoint list format saying that says

“-> being intersex is as common as having twins, at 1.7% of the world’s population

-> only 3 intersex traits require intervention, although doctors often perform non-consensual surgeries

-> these surgeries often cause scarring, pain, infection, and sterilization

-> this is not technically illegal, but it is immoral”

On the fourth page, a continuation of the poem reads “we live our lives, our laughs and cries, the way nature intended.” The same butterfly silhouette is below the text.

The fourth image is of the final two pages. The fifth page has text that says “ This project is dedicated to all of the intersex people in history who have been erased. While the Author of this zine is perisex, my heart goes out to all the intersex people who are suffering in silence due to oppression.” On the sixth and final page, text reads “CREDITS TO: University of Manchester, the Trevor project, Cleveland clinic, InterConnect.org and SPECIAL THANKS to Forget-Us-All on Tumblr for answering the Author’s endless questions. IT IS DONE.

This project is meant to be a ‘beginner’s guide’, so to speak, so there is nuance and information missing that I couldn’t fit into the zine. I am also, as mentioned in the zine, perisex. Take my information with a grain of salt.
