In honour of the final flight today of the @americanair McDonnell Douglas MD-82 and MD-83, here are some shots from my two flights on these planes (both I'm pretty sure are MD-83s). From the oddly comfortable seats (much more comfortable than the Boeing 777 I connected from) to the bare unpainted aluminium body to the old fashioned cockpit and cabin (American is so cheap that they never bothered to update the interior of these planes after they were purchased) to the almost obnoxiously loud engines (the takeoff video doesn't do it justice: these things are LOUD), they sure don't make planes like this anymore. Also, not many planes are left where you can look out the window right into the engine. Thank you to the captain, who seemed to really enjoy flying the plane, for letting me take a photo of the cockpit. A little sad to see them go, but these planes are 20-30 years old and are somewhat horrible gas guzzlers. #md83 #md80 #mcdonnelldouglas #oldplanes #toopoortobeanavgeek https://www.instagram.com/p/B1_kiMLD5NeIZk0QwfN2AImwFGOuVnC7VWsr2s0/?igshid=1448f7vyk9w6q
