Before the new NGA development and before the Pruitt-Igoe complex, baseball was played at the corner of Jefferson and Cass in St. Louis. The St. Louis Maroons of the Union Association, a rival league to the National League and American Association, played here for three seasons 1884-1886, the final two in the National League. The team, however, could not complete with the St. Louis Brown Stockings (later the St. Louis @cardinals) who won four pennants from 1885-1888 and a World Series championship over the Chicago White Stockings (today’s @cubs) in 1886. #explorestlouis #baseball #oldnorth #stl #sports #ephemera #postcard #advertising (at St. Louis)
