Made a new dwarf fortress fortress embark.
Called it oldmold. Put the embark next to a river, a forest, and a mountain. Gave myself a good starting settler variety and resources.
One year in:
+fisherdwarf went insane, stripped off all their clothes, ran naked through a pond, had an alligator snapping turtle bite their fingers off, died of dehydration.
+everything is covered in mud.
+The light aquifer extends like 12 z layers into the first cavern system.
+turtles keep picking fights with the dwarves on the surface and then running away.
+the expedition leader, who is also the manager, hates talking to people despite having decent social skills distribution, and has pissed off our envoy. Future caravan rates are up by about %200 on average.
+made it to the first cavern. The entire cavern is covered in thick mud. Which I looked at and went, this will be excellent for farming. No. It's because the aquifer is dripping into the cavern, so clearing space for a farm is nearly impossible in the short term.
+there's also like a hundred dead cave sparrows(? swallows?) littering the cavern, just that I can see. Feels like a bad omen. No clue why it's like that.
+I have one dwarf that can swim. They refuse to go near any water.
+they're running out of food constantly. I have repeating work orders set up. I have ingredients. The cause is a mystery.
All in all: going great 👍
