Archive dive Thursday! Almost 19 years since doing this page and I only just now realized (and no one has ever pointed this out) - Mike is on summer vacation, so he wouldn't have any homework to finish!!
I remembered an old online comic
*After a failed attempt to attack the girlfriend of a superhero’s girlfriend, a villain got his hand forced into a garbage disposal and is in the hospital.*
Hero: “So you won’t reveal my secret identity?
Villain: “I can’t, she’ll know it was me.” Hero: “She’s really not bad once you get to know her.”
Villain: “I’ll pray for you.”

The comic also had a minor hero explain to a major villain with handpuppets (on his feet since his hands were bound) why trying to break his archenemy’s view of morality and decency by killing his girlfriend is inviting death.

Thinking about Hoi Butt and how those comics were my first foray into asexuality and relationships. How they made me feel less "wrong" for not seeking out the sexual interests my peers treated as tantamount to adolescence.
I suppose I'll never know what happened to the comic, why it stopped updating but its still a big part of me. Thank you for your work Tasha and Shane, wherever you are
I find myself thinking about this webcomic I was obsessed with back in the mid 00s. It was queer, beautifully drawn (a bit of an Aubrey Beardsley influence if i recall correctly), and I don’t remember the plot at all or if there even was one but I remember the author made a retelling of Titus Andronicus and one of Heliogabalus. I don’t remember the name of the author/artist, I think he might have been a trans man, but it’s been like 20 years and my memories are so disorganised so I could also be mashing up three different people who’s work I followed in my teens. I’m pretty sure the author/artist also made silhouette art as well.
If I had tried finding this webcomic 15 years ago I would probably have had a chance but the internet is so saturated with garbage and search engines are near useless so I’m sol right now.
It was a formative piece of media for me and I kind of wish I could tell the author I still think of it 20 years later.
