Can I ask why was Saor built into a bridge and not on the ground? Was the bridge already there or was it built with the city? Do people use magic for building purposes? 🤔 Thank you sm for this game, I really love seeing all you post about it❤️
Ooohhh 😁 So Saor was technically originally built on the ground. 👀 (Alpha lore disclaimer, some details are still being worked)
(this got a little long akskdjfdkdj so under a read more, but thank you so much for the message and interest in the lore, and I'm so happy you're enjoying! 🥰❤️)
During the Old Wars, Saor was responsible for one of the Core Siphons (the main colossal drains of magic during that point in history which damaged a noticeable part of the world). They used an immense amount of magic to tear away a good portion of the land around the city to make it more difficult for enemies to reach them.
This...predictably backfired as they used more magic and the canyon started forming around them, land and city alike crumbling into the ravines and the city itself struggling to keep up with bridge repairs, resorting to even more magic to patchwork/quick fix their mistakes.
When the mortalis fighting ended and with attentions turned toward the sheevra, the city decided to stay and rebuild as they could. Now able to take their time to magically fortify the structures and create barriers against the waterfalls and mist, they supported the city using the massive bridges and the land itself.
I say Saor is built into a bridge because it's easier, but technically you'd still find a little bit of the original land supporting from below, and within the lower rings and along the uppermost ring. For the latter, it's preserved there more for posterity and history. The fog and spray from the waterfalls at the bottom of the ravine hide this land mass, giving it the illusion of hanging from the bridge itself.
And yes! Magic is very much integrated into every day tasks, including infrastructure and building 🤗

The walls and the damn mirrors
A Poem by Coyote Poetry
Can’t hide what we became when we see our reflection in the mirrors
The walls and the damn mirrors.
My father told me the Devil like to dance at dawn.He like when the night overcomes the day.He told me. No-one is pretty with age and abuse.Life is fair for all people. We kill all the goodness inside.Leaving…
“There was a city of them not long ago,” Eld replied grimly before wetting his whistle with an empty sigh. “But there was one particular awful monster.”
“Zealotry was an understatement to this deathguard, and to be truthful I don’t think there is a word to describe his level of obsession,” the hunter stared off at the back of the tavern remembering the dark rider. Memories of the pike wielding abomination wading through his comrades, never a sound of emotion or pain escaping his locked jaw. Single focused, mindless, and devastating as it waded through the dead and dying. A blood soaked reminder of the northern threat that had sunk its teeth deep into the heart of humanity.
The hunter took another short drink of his stout and shook the memory of his foe, “I pray that he was finally put down but I know he’s still roaming Silverpine in service to his Dark Lady.”
