That's cold: Really old ice discovered in Antarctica
1.5M the age, in years, of ice recently discovered in the earth's coldest continent, Antarctica—ice uncovered using radar waves. The ice could hold secrets about global warming, according to Australian researcher Dr. Tas van Ommen. "An old ice core, over a million years old, would tell us more about how the climate responds to CO2 levels, and we can then use that information to understand how it is going to change in the future," he said. source
