Tips on making better quality gifs:
Use 1080p videos (720p are okay, too, but not as good). You can download The 100 HQ episodes here (same for any other show) and here;
Always sharpen your gifs or use an action. You can find actions here and here’s a tutorial on how to add them to your gifs. If you choose to sharpen your gifs instead of using an action, here’s a tutorial on how to do it;Â
 Make sure you use a good colouring. Some colourings might make your gifs look blurry, grainy or pixelated. The best way to avoid this is to avoid using too bright/dark psds. You can find psds here if you’re not comfortable with creating your own.
Choose the right dimensions for your gifs. The old dimensions are are 500px for 1 gif, 245px for 2 gifs in a row and 160px for 3 gifs in a row; the new dimensions are 540px for 1 gif, 268px for 2 gifs in a row and 177px for 3 gifs in a row. I still use the old dimensions;
Make sure your save settings look like this. Â

First of all, It’s important that you guys know that this colouring probably won’t work in every scene. It will work best in outdoor/bright scenes and the end result will look even better if you choose scenes with a main colour in the background.
1. Let’s start by adding curves, levels and brightness/contrast:
My gif now looks like this:
2. This is the tricky part. I’ll use selective colour to try to make the background one uniform colour and for that I’ll need to eliminate every hint of colour that’s not green:
3. And another layer of selective colour to turn the green background into yellow:
4. My gif already looks not so bad but I want it to be brighter so I’m going to add levels, brightness/contrast and curves:
5. I could just save this gif and call it a day but I want to make it a bit brighter (it probably won’t make much difference, it’s just me being picky):
And that’s it! Now that I have a main colour in my gif I can also easily change the yellow to any other colour by using hue/saturation. Like this:Â
