sometimes i see people making posts like ‘why did the power ring go to hal jordan, he just makes green boxing gloves and egg beaters with it, someone smarter would have used it to get rid of all criminals :////’ and im just... thats why ring went to hal in the first place. because he’s a good person. it’s so incredibly easily to let the power of a weapon that can literally create anything you want get to you and then corrupt you. if a ring goes to a competent but immoral person, sinestro happens. hal makes stupid constructs but he’ll never attempt to create new order of things or he will never use that authority to become some sort of tyrant. he never thinks to use the ring to literally rule over people, he’s happy with making huge boxing gloves to beat up criminals. with a weapon as powerful as that, it would have been so easy to become a villain!! and thats why it chooses good people with strong will, who can resist that!!!! thats the point!!!!!! the ring goes to somebody who will never misuse its power, hal’s not stupid, he’s just a good person
