Breaking this off from my original post because I’m going to answer that first part in a less serious tone...

Listen, I am 5’10”. My partner is 5’4”. If you saw us standing next to each other I look SUPER TALL!

But nooooo, Robyn is 5’11” and Joanna is 6’3”, so that means May is Itty Bitty at 5’10” and Fiona is MICROSCOPIC at 5’4”.

...SNERFs...? Or, rather, SNeRFs

I think most people just call them sex negative feminists, purity police, or anti-sexuals, or things like that. My understanding is that there’s no acronym version.

I prefer to refer to them as sex-negative feminists or anti-sex feminists, because I want to highlight the connection between both the anti-sex culture common in the US and Canada and the connection to the lesbian/feminist sex wars, propagated primarily by what we now call RadFems.

A term like “SNERF,” while very funny, is somewhat less effective because it doesn’t “sound like what it means.” It sounds like a joking insult, and doesn’t adequately express to the average reader, “this person is opposed to other people’s consensual sex, and it’s because they think they’re being feminist in doing so.”

But yeah, SNeRFs.

So is Nick short for Phoenix, or is it a different name for him in Japanese?

Nick is short for Phoenix in the English localization, yes! And that’s Maya’s affectionate “nick”name for him.

 In Japanese, his name is Ryuichi Naruhodou and his equivalent nickname there is “Naruhodo-kun”.  Basically, the “ou’  in Naruhodou is the only thing differentiating it from “Naruhodo”, which is Japanese for “I see/I understand/I got it”) (basically the equivalent in his english name is Wright=Right). But Mia/Chihiro and Maya/Mayoi shorten his name and leave out the long o, making the pun even more apparent. 

Even though both the anime obviously uses the original Japanese names I tend to refer to them by their English ones while liveblogging because that’s what I do all the other times I talk about ace attorney, so, consistency and all that. (also the subtitles sometimes refer to the character by their English names too. there actually used to even be an option to switch to subs with the English names but i don’t see it on Crunchyroll anymore).

The whole thing about how college kids dating is child molestation is in regards to a dude that is mostly called “the irish fishing guy,” who has an extremely specific sexual issue where he can only reach orgasm by re-creating the circumstances of his own conception, which his gf thought was just regular sexual roleplay until she recently learned it’s specifically about his conception, wherein she started being confused and uncomfortable with it.

I thought we were all going to hae a good laugh at how extremely specific sexual satisfaction can be for some people, and maybe talk about how to navigate the difficulties of possibly incompatible sexual needs, but instead, everyone is just flipping the fuck out because the girl mentioned that they started dating  years ago, which means that while she was probably 18, it’s technically possible mathematically that she was 17. Since he was either 21 or 22 at the time, this is proof that he’s a child molester, because 18-year-olds and 22-year-olds neer exist in the same peer spaces as each other in the minds of these utter fucks.

Ergo the man’s fetish is just “another red flag” that she “should hae noticed” when she “started dating a child molester.”

It’s a staggering amount of bullshit, and the fact that apparently, a child should be the one held responsible for being raped is just the cherry on that sundae.

The other thing, which apparently no one is disclosing the names of the people involved because there’s a 16-year-old (that is to say, a child per US jurisdiction) in play, is simpler to explain, but must more horrific. Out of respect for the wishes of the people in play, I will also not be disclosing names publicly.

An anti-shipper just turned 18 a couple of months ago, and their much, much older “mentor” (27, I think?) has now convinced them that they hae to break up with their 16-year-old partner, because a high school senior dating a high school sophomore is “raping a child” to these people.

The 18-year-old is now isolating themself from the rest of their friends and family, because their young adult status is “risky” to their friends, and is thus being trapped in an abusive (though seemingly not romantic or sexual, at least) relationship with their “mentor,” and is completely convinced that they are a child molester, a rapist, and a monster who must be exiled for the safety of their friends,  because.... they dated another student at the same high school. 

At least with the fishing guy, as far as we know, the dude doesn’t know that he’s being targetted with these absurd, ile accusations. The anti-shipper, though, whoooooboy.

...TIRF? There's a freaking SEQUEL to TERF?! Though in all seriousness, I've not seen TIRF yet, what manner of reladfem are they? Besides, you know, awful like the rest?
