After hearing that Mayuri was in love with Okabe in SG0, I have to ask, does this mean she was always in love with Okabe (meaning in the events of the original SG)?
Well, the writer of Mayuri’s route in ‘Darling of Loving Vows’ (who also happens to be the main writer of SG0) said in the ‘Darling’ guidebook that Mayuri has kept her feelings for Okabe sealed away for a long time, and that she wasn’t aware of them herself.
So basically, it seems Mayuri has always been in love with Okabe, but she wasn’t always consciously aware of it. As for why she realized her feelings in SG0, maybe it was simply because Okabe changed so drastically from how he used to be. This is just speculation on my part, though.

Hold up, where is that official art of Okabe and Mayuri kissing from? I must know!
It’s from the Mayuri route in the Darling of Loving Vows VN. If you like Okabe/Mayuri, then I can’t recommend it enough. You can find English playthroughs of it on youtube.
(Some might say it’s a spoiler that they kiss, but considering how romance oriented ‘Darling’ is, I don’t really think so.)
