i wishhh he had been foreshadowed in the first series, so then his appearance and the subsequent murdering of tigerstar wouldnt have felt so sudden
like, rumours of mean kittypets with teeth around their necks start spreading early-on... thunderclan cats report feeling watched in the forest, and at first they think it's an enemy clan (like riverclan), and then then the dogs, but as both those threats are dealt with it becomes increasingly clear that there's someone (something?) else in the woods
then the tales of a pitch black tom with a snow white paw and ice blue eyes start coming in, originating in shadowclan and spreading quickly. omens that relate to tigerstar also vaguely mention this mysterious cat. tigerstar tries to shut them down as to avoid suspicion, but then barley catches wind of the stories and puts a name to a face: scourge, leader of bloodclan, a threat to all who stand in his way...
by the time the clans realise they need to prepare for a real threat, it's already too late. scourge has arrived
