i'm doing that thing where i weep and scream because people are too nice to me
nightmares, plans, and revenge! c:
Nightmares:
She almost has the same nightmare every night. As she is now, there are rarely any reason why she should sleep, but Elia tries to nonetheless. And whenever she tries, she only sees the Sack. The one thing that she pushes in the back of her mind at all times comes to life in her dreams.
She hears the screams, she can feel herself running in haste, she sees the door to the nursery break and fall to the floor as she clutches a baby in her arms. She sees that monstrosity at the doorway with eyes locked on her and that child. And when he makes that first step towards, Elia always wakes up screaming.
She would rather not dream about what happened afterward. She already knows too well, and itâs another nightmare in itself.
Plans:
Elia has never been much of a planner until her later years. But that doesnât undermine her intelligence.
Whenever she does make plans, which is rare, itâs solely for the protection of her family and herself. Sheâs more of an observer, so she picks up on things that she notices happening around her. And normally when she would fall, she would have her ladies inform her of what had happened which she was in care.
So observing and learning about it, sheâs good at it. Actually making plans? Eh⌠not until things go real bad does she start to try it.
Revenge:
They say that vengeance for Elia grew in the hearts of Dorne over the years. Elia herself was not spared for having these feelings.
Revenge is a double-edge sword. One can be consumed by those feelings if one wasnât careful. Whenever she would think back to the rebellion, she would think of the hell sheâs seen. She would think of her husband who fell in battle. She would think of her children, brutally taken from this world in such a cruel and barbaric way that she would feel so much anger towards the people that hurt before they even got a chance to live. And she would think of herself, dishonored and torn, and cursed to have that day embedded in her mind for as long she remained. So yes, Elia does have strong feelings for revenge for her children, and get the justice that she and her family rightfully deserved.
But sheâs also scared of letting that anger consume her if she dwells on it. Sheâs powerless to do anything about it, she knows this. But that doesnât stop her from feeling that way. That doesnât stop her from feeling that those responsible for her fate should get what they deserve, gods help her. And what good would a vengeful memory be by feeling that way and losing herself? So sheâs wary about it. And at times, sheâs scared about it. Scared about having such strong feelings that no one could blame her for having. And scared from seeing that day again, and again and again.
But she never forgot. She would never allow herself to forget. And Dorne has not forgotten either, that she did know.
All Elia can do was to never forget, even when she has those feelings she canât act upon.

... it would be rude of me to not give you customary treats as I do to the others on this day, would it not? I pray that you accept these chocolates from me, Archer, and that you enjoy them and this day when you are able to eat them.
This was something rather unexpected. He knew well of the current date, and the holiday placed upon it, but he had not thought the other servant to partake.Â
Customary chocolates she said, but they were chocolates none the less. âTo think I would be getting these from you. Here I thought the prospect was unlikely.â There was nothing to do but accept the small token of affection from her. A strange feeling welling inside his heart from the action.
âChocolates are never something of pleasure to eat alone, perhaps we might indulge in these together over some tea?â In his mind it sounded like a good offer. He could offer up some salted crackers to balance out the sweetness as well.Â
To think he was actually offering to spend time with another servant, what was coming over him.

Eugene often saw hundreds of players each day, so it wasn't uncommon for the Salamander to pass by someone and not give them a second look. His position as a military figure didn't afford him the luxury of idly stopping and chatting with people he encountered. In fact, the times when he did, it was to interrogate or attack them. This particular moment was different, though.
As the General marched down the street with two of his subordinates in tow and drew the stares of many around them, one person among the crowd stood out to him. Eugene's red eyes looked off to the side and zeroed in on a blonde, armor-clad woman that he felt he'd seen somewhere before. His steps slowed slightly before halting all together. "Gene-san?" one of his soldiers asked, only to have Eugene raise his left hand to silence him. As he studied the woman, the scene of a night-shrouded beach appeared in his mind, complete with the sounds of waves crashing. "Hmph," he exhaled in amusement. So it was her, wasn't it? Eugene felt he had met this woman once in the past, she had gone by the name Saber at the time. The Salamander continued to recall their meeting, how they had discussed war tactics and how they'd been about to engage each other in battle before an unfortunate incident presented itself.
Eugene had broken away from his soldiers for a moment and crossed the busy street in order to approach the blonde he had his sights on. Several bystanders quickly moved out of his way, intimidated by his stature and air, leaving a clear path for him. It wasn't long before he reached her and when he had, he stood firm and announced himself, "It seems we meet again, Saber."
