Gosh, no one had told Hutton that he was supposed to babysit. If no one had guessed, he wasn’t the man with the biggest hospitality in the world. Yet of course he was the one that was assigned the new girl to teach her how interpol worked. And basically if she messed up, it was all on him. Not that he couldn’t handle the responsibility of Lacey Carrington, he just preferred not to. Yet here he was in Colombia, training the newbie.
The two of them sat in a cafe, as they were on the heels of Dom Reyes, the infamous leader of a drug cartel in Colombia. They had to be very quiet, and discreet. “Okay Carrington, the target has just sat behind you. Do not make any sudden movements.” He instructed as he took a sip of coffee from the cup that sat in front of him. “Usually, in these scenarios, one person looks over to the target, to see who they are talking to, that’s me. and one watches for anything suspicious, that you would be you. The academy taught you about that, right?” he grinned condescending. Agents like Carrington wanted the hard jobs to prove themselves, and Hutton was just fine with not giving them to her.
He peered over her shoulder, seeing Reyes talking to a woman. However, not part of his cartel whatsoever. “That’s not Dia Alvarez.” He commented, taking another sip of his coffee. “That’s Eleanor Dean. Her family is part of the italian mafia. What the heck is she doing here?” After a couple more minutes of the two of them sitting down, the two targets stood up and walked out quickly, very unlike Dom Reyes. And he would know.
“Something’s wrong.“ He mumbled. Setting the cup down. Hutton started looking around himself. For anything out of the ordinary that he would need to keep an eye on. He looked around, the crowd for anything suspicious. He looked up at all the waitstaff. Hutton kept looking. Until he finally found something. Lacey sitting right in front of him, with a red laser pointed at her head.
“GET DOWN.“ He acted quick as he pushed her shoulder along with him as them along with the table went down on the floor, that’s when the shots started happening. One by one, he heard a repeat amount of gunshots that ripped through the air. The screams of the people around him echoed as everyone ran trying to get away. And Hutton found himself lying on top of Lacey, face to face. “Doing alright there Carrington?“ He half heartedly jokes, before the gunshots stopped going off.
He looked up to make sure the coast was clear, that it was safe to get out as fast as possible. “Come on, stop fooling around.” Hutton smiled, before he stood up, took Lacey’s hand as he got them out of there, wondering who put a hit out on them. Or even Lacey, a newbie agent. Someone had to know they were there. . .
