I do not know why I wasnt following you still:( I knew my dash was missing something
Haha this whole time I thought you were already following me! Ah well :))) I’m glad you do now. Your blog is one of my absolute favourites I’m alwaaaays checking it ❤❤❤
Artist Spotlight: An Interview with Brooke Stonehouse
Meet Brooke Stonehouse, a young artist from London, England. Her portfolio of work is amazingly mystical and whimsy. Being a major fan of her work I interviewed Brooke on her art and her style. Read on to find out more!
→ What are your favorite types of media to use?
When working I really enjoy using a huge range of media’s, often sticking to Indian inks, felts and acrylic paints but I also really enjoy using pencil and charcoal.
→ Your work seems to feature a lot of young women - where do you get inspiration for them?
I find my inspiration scattered across the internet. Most of my inspiration in day to day life comes from girls all around the world, of all ages. I guess its just what appeals to me. All women have such beauty!
→ What are some great things that have come from the exposure of your art?
I’ve met some great people over the internet and it has opened up many doors for my illustration career so far. Working with companies abroad and other young and aspiring artists. I gained great life experience in just a matter of months.
→ Have you always been in a creative environment?
I guess you could say so, it all started at a young age when I started to make things because my parents couldn’t afford an awful lot of toys for me and my siblings. ( Dresses and head set microphone in hope to be more like Brittany spears and the spice girls ). Then at around the ages of 6-8 I saw my granddad drawing and painting and I fell in love, her taught me to draw an eye and ever since then I haven’t stopped progressing as an artist.
→ It seems like you’re not only popular for your artwork but for your fashion style as well. How would you describe your style?
I would never really consider myself a fashionista but I do take pride in how I look. Many of my clothes are on the cheaper end of the high street and charity shops. My boyfriend and I often compare my out fits to Harry Styles’ or his own, with a touchy of girly and a touch of ” I have a great obsession with amazing shoes ”.
→ What are some of your favourite pieces in your wardrobe at the moment?
My H&M Cut out shoes, I think they are amazing and look so great with anything you pair them up with. My blue and white stripped, and oversizes H&M basic vest tops. Worn out black jeans with DIY rips in the knees and my ASOS freckled sunglasses!
→ Name some things that are on your wish list
Honestly I haven’t listed much for myself this month as I find spring such a difficult time to dress/buy for. Though I’m looking forward to the summer and purchasing some triangle swimwear, “Pep Rally” top floral from Casper and Pearl, and some Forever 21 summer dresses to match with some jelly sandals, most of which I doubt will be very bold in colour or pattern.
→ Do you have any style icons?
A massive one for me is Alexa Chung. I love how she wears whatever she wishes. Whether it be women or menswear, old or new and still manages to look so dainty, girly, and feminine. But my general inspiration is picked up from young girls and boys from all over the internet and around my town.
→ What would be some of your favourite shops/labels?
Again, my first choices would be charity/second hand shops or boot sales. Then I would go on to base the rest of my buy around them from shops like Topshop, H&M, American Apparel, Forever21, Zara, Verge Girl, Sass and Bide, Triangl Swimwear, Senso, Asos, Office, LovingYou the Label, Shop Dixi, Frida the Label, 80’s Purple, I Love Lilya and so many more!
