There’s no reason, just because

Kai is a freaking oven, but a side effect is that he doesn’t do well in the cold

Kai isn’t aquaphobic, which is just fear of water in general, he’s thalassophobic which can be classified as a fear of being in deep bodies of water, the vast emptiness of the sea, of sea waves, sea creatures, and fear of distance from land, which basically matches Kai to a T

I mean, in S5 he flat out says he was only afraid because he couldn’t summon his dragon to save himself if he fell

The reason he was able to swim in the burning sea when getting the last time blade was because he trusted Nya to help him is anything went wrong

Kai is actually a really good engineer. He isn’t great with the computer and tech aspects but he knows how to put together some really complicated things
