SandRay and RomeRaffy double date for @iamanhonestmess
Work or Date Night?
Gigs and opportunities are far from lacking for both Sand and Rome, but of course, when a friend in need calls, they come running.
It's opening night for a brand new bar-artist space hybrid. One with a gorgeous patio space too. It's hidden in one of the less assuming corners of Bangkok, in other words, perfectly located.
The owners, good friends from the underground concert scene, asked Sand to play a couple songs during the first part of the evening, then a group of DJs from abroad would take over for patrons to dance until early hours of the morning.
Everything was set, or Sand thought so until he got a panicked call a couple hours before he's due to start. The DJ group is stuck in Japan, their connecting flight has been cancelled.
"Please tell me you know someone decent who can perform this last minute,"
He does. Someone far better than just "decent" too. Though, it really depends on how agreeable his boyfriend is feeling tonight.
"It's our one night off Sand! Don't you-"
Rome cuts in, saying that they had planned on going there anyways, thus overruling Raffy and his diva theatrics, a fact that may or may not be a set up for later, something Sand would rather not know the details of. Bonus, they don't have to haul the turn table along this time.
Lolly and Ker welcome Ray, Sand, Rome and Raffy with large smiles, promises of free drinks and a million thanks.
Still, none of that prevents Raffy from side-eyeing them nor from glaring at Sand.
Losing date night to a gig paid in alcohol is not worth it in his opinion. His boyfriend sighs at his antics, wraps his arm around Raffy's waist and leads them to a table.
Ray and Sand can only chuckle and exchange knowing looks.
"Rome, is your cat going to pout all evening?"
"If I'm a cat then what is Sand, a dog?"
"Yes" everyone answers simultaneously.
Cue the dramatic eyeroll and head shake. Raffy wonders why Sand agreed, completely ignoring the fact that Rome is very much the same, and that Raffy himself is indeed no better than a pair bonded cat.
Ray leads the group to one of the mismatched tables by the stage. A perfect view. Soon after, Lolly reappears ready to take their orders.
Specialty cocktail for Raffy -one of Ker's personal creations- beer for Rome and Sand, and Ray decides to follow Raffy's extravagance with a fancy mocktail instead of his usual alcohol free beer. After all, why not?
"I'm surprised they don't serve your beer here, the owners being your friends and all"
"Rome you think too small" Ray says with smirk
Sand laughs and explains how they are working on a custom brew for this place as Ray leans against him with smug smile.
Slowly the bar fills, most customers seem to be alternative of one flavor or another. It makes Raffy feel a bit out of place, this is quite different from Rome's regular crowd. His unease doesn't go unnoticed. Neither by his boyfriend nor their friends.
"You should have a least worn a leather jacket, or is leather not Rome's thing?"
"Maybe you should pay less attention to my wardrobe choices and more attention to your man's fanclub"
Indeed, when Ray turns he sees a few women pointing at Sand and giggling amongst themselves, they are just elated when Sand flashes them a smile.
With one hand, Ray turns Sand's face toward him and kisses him deeply. Earning excited screams from the aforementioned fanclub and exasperated looks from Rome and Raffy.
Once they separate, Sand chuckles not bothering to hide the bliss on his face, while Ray pats his thigh and shrugs towards the other couple.
As if either of them would let the other be openly flirted with by someone else.
Trying his best to ignore the couple-y whispering beside them, Rome puts his jacket and one of his many necklaces on his boyfriend.
"That should do it"
As sweet as the gesture is, Raffy eyes Rome up and down, he's left only in a tight sleeveless shirt, clearly the jacket was integral to the outfit. He makes a mental note to adapt both of their outfits for venues like these.
Sand smirks but only whispers his comment to his boyfriend before proposing a toast.
"To music,"
"to annoying friends"
" to couples grossly in love"
"Is that directed towards us or have you graduated to a public degradation kink?"
"Oh, shut up!"
The drinks are good, and they keep on coming, and evidently, the music is great, besides the intermission playlist, which all four cringe at. Rome and Sand play rock, paper, scissors to decide who'll have to give Lolly and Ker a crash course on vibe appropriate music. Only for Ray and Raffy to take the matter into their own hands while their boyfriends discuss semantics and argue details. They're cute, but not helpful in this moment.
