S didn’t want to admit it to herself, but there was a reason she was back in Beach City. There was nothing for her there, not really. She usually travelled from place to place, attending rock and punk shows, meeting new people.. just.. living. Beach City didn’t offer anything like that really.. it was more of a place she simply.. passed through. 

But... it was also where she’d met her. 

Pearl had made an impression on S, and really, she couldn’t resist just.. hanging around a little longer to see if she could catch one more glimpse of her. She... hadn’t called yet, which was disappointing understandable, but S couldn’t help but hope anyway. She was.. quite a character, and S had been thinking about her on and off since they’d met. 

Geez, it wasn’t like her to get so hung up over anybody. Sighing, S sat herself down in the sand, leaning back and resting on her hands.

         “Pearl... there you are.” Rose’s voice was tired, it really wasn’t too          long after the ordeal of Steven’s birth. She had not expected it to be          so... draining. Nevertheless, she was gladly relaxing in the safety          of her room in the temple, reclining on some clouds, a tiny bundle          in her arms. The bundle shifted, and Rose smiled, lifting up her          gaze to look at her dear Pearl.

              “Come and meet Steven.” 

        It already felt like they had been searching for forever. Amethyst had been keeping to herself, staring out the window and trying to keep it together. But when Pearl walked up, she couldn’t help saying what had been on her mind ever since she’d watched Steven fly off into space.

          Oh, Pearl was going to get a real kick out of this! Smoky knew that           Pearl was unsure if Steven could even fuse with gems, and now, here           they were! Smoky had to admit, they were torn between showing it off           proudly or rubbing it in. 

          Sitting in front of the warp pad, Smoky waited patiently for Pearl to return,           grinning broadly. They couldn’t wait to see the look on Pearl’s face! 

          As the Warp pad lit up with light, Smoky brightened and by the time Pearl           appeared, they were grinning widely. 

They frowned and blinked a few times, not entirely    understanding what the other gem was trying to    explain to them.
