âwe canât be friends.â @ofrabbitâ
even if catraâs response wasnât surprising, the words still hit her like a punch to the gut. it was clear by adoraâs stricken face how the words had affected her. their breakup was horrible, she knew that, but she thought they could overcome it considering they were good friends before they had gotten together. a memory that had resurfaced the previous night had prompted adora to reach out to catra in the first place. she didnât fully understand it, she was asking catra to come with her and catra refused. but it was the look in catraâs eyes that wrecked her, the hatred and the promise of a threat. she never wanted her to look at her like that again.Â
âcatra,â her voice was a plea. her hands reached out to catraâs, to grab them into hers, but thought better of it, pulling away when they were mere inches apart. she stood tall with her arms to her side and her hands now balled into fists, her nails pressed so hard into her palms they drew blood. her stare was unyielding as she looked down at her. âwhy are you always so stubborn,â adora didnât even try to hide her frustration. âdo you really want nothing to do with me just because our relationship didnât work out?â she paused to swallow the lump that had formed in her throat. âyou were my best friend, catra.âÂ
