âHey, hey, I know the feeling and I know youâre upset over whatâs happening, but would your girlfriend really want you going out and getting yourself killed?â It sounds insensitive and he knows that. Sometimes he wishes he doesnât have to be so blunt like this, itâs part of the job however and heâd rather do that right.
With a sigh, he looks outside of the barricaded library door. Itâs a shitstorm out there and he canât get a response from anyone which worries him. Looking back to Brook, he frowns. âIâm sorry aboutâŚyour girlfriend, by the way.â
There was a permanent sensation of distance between herself and the world around her. The yelling and the sound of shattering glass outside the library were dull, the texture of the German textbook she was clenching was barely acknowledged by her fingertips, and it was as if there were an imaginary layer of fog surrounding her sight. Some would call it a dream-like state (or, rather, nightmare-ish), but the dark spots on her arms proved the contrary - no amount of pinching would ever wake her up.
âYou know the feeling?â Soso looked up, lips pressed into a thin line as her expression changed into a scowl. âYou know what itâs like to have your girlfriend murdered - suffocated-â Her grip strengthened, and her nails left tiny dents on the back of the book. â-by someone who now walks freely?â The frown on her face faltered with a sob. âYou know the feeling of not being able to see her one last time? Not being to touch her one last time? Or say how... how much you love her? Do you know this feeling?â
The noise of ripping paper caught her attention, and she whimpered when her eyes fell on the half-torn page of the textbook. âNo... no, no, no, no-â Its state worsened as her tears wrecked the yellowed pages. Brook shakingly rearranged them, fighting against the urge to sit down and sob uncontrollably for the fourth time today. âGet out of here.â She glanced at him. âYou donât deserve to be here. This... this is her place. Our place. Get out.â
