characters: atlas & @oflaylaperezâ
Truth was, ever since heâd found out about the kid thing, Atlas hadnât bothered reaching out to Layla for the trip to the rescue heâd promised. If anything, he figured she could do the reaching out after she figured out when sheâd want to visit. He wasnât pissed, but maybe disappointed? Heâd spent months thinking about her, only for her to move on and do whatever it was sheâd been doing. It didnât seem fair, but then again, heâd been the one to leave. Heâd walked away from a good thing, but logically so, right? Heâd had a home to return to and it wasnât like heâd offered up a second ticket for her to follow. Theyâd had a few good weeks together; he shouldnât have expected anything more than that.
âI didnât know if Iâd be seeing you around here today. Sorry I havenât reached out. Iâve been pretty busy with the rescue,â he half lied, voice quiet. Even with a little booze coursing through his veins, he still felt as cold as the wind that brushed his face. âYou should really check this place out. Maybe grab a map. Itâs the best time to shop around down here.â What else was he supposed to say? âHowâs it been?â
