on the one hand, fandral loves to primp and preen and be fussed over, so he loves having a tailor attend to him, he loves the whole process of being measured and complimented on his figure and having different fabrics tried against his skin, especially bc...

you know, he won’t be quiet, but there’d be a definite enjoyment of a tailor holding up a fabric to fandral’s cheek and tivan nodding his head or shaking it, and the fact that fandral’s opinion just... isn’t relevant here

and like??? i think once he realized exactly what the game was - what fabrics, what styling was being selected, he’d become a lot quieter and stop kinda throwing out all his flirtatious commentary about preferring him in no clothes at all, and keep looking at tivan’s face instead of the tailors or whatever

he’d be so... struck, and so honoured by it? it’d genuinely touch him?

ah, sorry, I really don’t know anything about the Seelie or Unseelie courts, like... at all - most of the classification lore I know is based off the tylwth teg, the Welsh fae, or the sidhe, the Irish ones (idk the proper name is aos sí i think)

in the Welsh mythos we separate them into like, specific classifications based on what they are - like, the difference between little goblins and between water spirits, for example, and we have specific names for faeries in Welsh and Irish both, but there’s no idea of a uniting court separated into two sides

maybe it’s my anti-English sentiment, but the Seelie/Unseelie divide always struck me as a little arbitrary - even if it’s not strictly “good” and “bad”, the concept of “mischievous” v. “nasty” faeries isn’t a dichotomy i’d know much about how to portray, I guess

all faeries are equally bad and terrible BUT

idk, i think that the interesting thing in regard to any faerie characterisation is when you’re examining that genuine threat of the power they command, whether it’s specific to their environment or not, v. the rules they keep, and how much you’re actually aware of those rules and how to use them to your advantage

 Her relationship with her father is a lot of push and pulls. She loves him dearly and feels guilt for leaving him for so long as she did but honestly? She doesn’t regret her actions nor does she regret the freedom that came with it. 

At first she wanted nothing to do with him, being a rebellious natured girl from the start who could only be tamed by her mother. In fact she was a lot of young teenagers even though by that age she was thousands of years older. And in a way she still hasn’t grown fully enough to be pulled from that phase entirely. 

She likes being her own woman, independent, without the need to rely on other but at the same time she needs and depends on her father for the affection she desires so much from him now that she’s returned. It’s one of the reasons why she came back in the first place.

Carina missed him. She longed for her father and in fact the ache had grown so horribly tremendous that she vowed that if he asked for her to stay…she would. And she regrets making that promise. But she won’t break it now, knowing how messed up she left him. Her hearts still a fleeting one, she still wants to explore and fly away but because of the promise she made and because she knows she’d just end up missing him and wanting to come back, that she chooses to stick by his side. For his sake and because she knows he’s broken after his wife’s death.

Personally I kinda understand her view on the subject. It’s a lot of confusion emotions she has for her father. She loves him and adores him but doesn’t want to be like him. She can’t stand that he has such a long life and chooses to do nothing but sit in one place and collect things. She loathes it. All she wants really is for him to come along with her, to see the universe with her and maybe it would help the both of them and I feel her frustration sometimes at that.

I love that his first reaction in seeing his daughter is just to run over to her and scoop her up in a hug. Carina’s day is super made by that cause she only expected him to be angry.

 Now that is how a real father would react to seeing their kid after a long time. Not Anger but genuine love and happiness that their child is back in their arms, safe and sound and home. Ugh my heart.
