later:

                                   oh she blinks, wide eyed & caught off guard. this was a question, while not unexpected, unprepared for. she’s been awake & free for all of three hours, & her sole mission in that time was to find him, not answer questions. 

                                   & really, how does she answer that ?  how does she tell him that she doesn’t know ? that she can’t explain it ?  humans have a funny hold on their little reality, & by all accounts, what happened to her was extremely human. 

                                   she was forgotten. one moment she was signing her name with a grand flourish ( he would have liked it, she thinks, she put a heart right after ‘ warner ’ ), & in the next, she was completely swallowed by darkness. suffocating for decades between two slips of paper, between dozens of folders & files, & simply locked away for future use. 

                                   the only problem with humans is that they forget.  & so she slept, if one can call it that. there were brief moments where she was coherent enough to understand that she was trapped, & the rest is all black, as far as she can remember. dark periods that simply flood her senses, overwhelming feelings of hopelessness that will inevitably keep her up for nights to come. 

                                   & yet, her joyous grin never fades. she’s held it too long, & the muscles in her cheeks are beginning to feel sore. still, she forces her tail to wag, & her smile to get bigger. 

                                        ❝     oh oz, don’t be silly. i didn’t go anywhere !     ❞

                 well you see, i was sittin’ over there on the bench.  //  accepting !
