“Get out of my way!”

But Dinah keeps talking. She keeps talking, saying Lian was safe- she was safe ( if she was safe then why is she — ) with Mia- but the attack on Star City began and Prometheus ( just hearing his name brings back flashes in his memory of the purple that seems too bright, a fight that seemed too quick and pain oh god pain— ) built a machine that brought down an entire city— — 

( They let an entire city fall down on my— ) 

“No!” 

He strikes out at Dinah— violently, with every intention of hurting her if it would get her out of his way and get her to stop talking, stop saying those words, stop stop stop— and he can hear Dick and Hal speak and he wants to turn and scream at them to shut up and claw and rip and do whatever he had to to get away from here but first he had to get out of this bed and away from Dinah. He keeps swinging, the sudden loss of his arm throwing his balance off, making his movements sloppy but he would literally drag himself away if that’s what it will take just— 

‘Let him be. I got him.’

And her arms are back around him, holding him back— no, holding him and tears that aren’t his splash against his skin, shocking him to the reality ( she’s gone, she’s gone oh god, oh god, my baby, my baby, no— ) and makes the panic that’s knotted in his chest claw it’s way up his throat and he struggles against her hold as hard, throwing his head back and screaming for her—  

“LIAN!      (sob)           Lian!”

He’s twisted them so far that they slip from the bed, Dinah wrapped around him, the thin white sheet twisted around his waist and Roy hangs his head, feeling for a moment as if Prometheus didn’t just take his arm but also hollowed out his chest. Lian is- was- his heart, his entire world. Without her, he had nothing— he was nothing.  ( I’m so sorry, princess— I’m so sorry I wasn’t there— Daddy’s so sorry— ) He thinks back to the freshly painted bedroom and the boxes that still needed to be unpacked and how he had promised- he’d promised they’d finally get settled and now— —
