if i want to go back and edit/polish a published fic, and in the process chunk it down a lot… should i keep the old version up as a separate chapter or should i commit to the edit and assume people won’t miss the old version too much? or maybe i should just let the fic be its 2024 self…??

rereading past fics bc i'm trying to get myself to finish the second chapter of my unfinished flystep fic before marion's birthday and man. they're reminding me how direly i need to see more of the inter-ranger team dynamic outside of ortega. since the scenes have to be structured to lead to situations where poly choices can be made, we do get at least a pretty solid idea of what kind of relationship oretga has with the other rangers, but i feel like we don't have as much of that between the rest of the three? even like. herald and argent's fake dating and breakup is scratching the surface of whatever the hell they have going on (elevator argument my beloved). not to mention that there's so much tasty tension to expand on in chen's distrust of argent (especially in paths where argent breaks out or is otherwise close to sidestep) and how that contributes to argent not being able to really integrate herself to the team. in fact i even need more of chen and herald just being amicable with each other (herald helping chen find spoon after he ran off, chen trying to get sidestep to talk to herald if there's feelings happening, tbh even chen respecting herald's input when he comes in to deescalate the fight with the ldpd)
