Don't know who this kid is, but #ThePinkBride from Memphis native #Official21, has been on repeat for the past hour. Sounds like spoken word over a dope beat, and I love. The track samples the chorus and instrumentation from Ta-Ku's "I Miss You". And I mean, who hasn't loved someone who didn't love you back? Or maybe, didn't love you in a way you could wrap your mind around? I could write an entire post about unrequited love experienced first hand, but I digress. Songs about heartbreak are just so damn, relatable. *sigh*
In an interview with Pigeons & Planes, the rapper conveys what many have felt at some point or another: "Basically ‘The Pink Bride’ is about loving someone who doesn’t fully love you back or love you back at all, which is something we’ve all been through,' 21 explains. 'If you listen to the hook, she says, ‘I wanna say I love you, but it’s alright.’ That essentially sums everything up." Indeed, it does.
