"Ughā¦ughā¦ugh."
"Jesus Frank. What?"
"Workās boring again. You want to go to that bar on Temple for lunch?"
"Frank itās like nine thirty man." Ben looked up to the edge of the cubicle wall where his joined with Frankās.
"Yeah but Iām just so parched! Listen to this voice!" He said, coughing a bit first and letting out some sort of āsick growl.ā
"Youāre fine. Thatās fake as hell. Now just work away wage slave! Friday is another realm away and lunch time will never get here with enough speed." He said, glancing at the massive stacks of reports and requests piled high on his desk.
"Plus Iām swamped man. Iād be surprised if get all of this done by three." Said Ben, grumbling.
"Benā¦Benā¦Ben?" Ben rolled his eyes.
"What!" He shouted, instantly realizing that his voice was much too loud for the office and trailing off.
"Iām parched man. Letās go early or get some daily specials in. Double mixed drinks. Gotta max out that liquor man!" Said Frank.
"Frank I just told you man Iāve gotā¦
"Sure sure man. Justā¦fucking stay in your sad, state of affairs, sitting in your isolation box and churn out those reports man! If you can pry yourself away from the stupidity come see me. Iāll be enjoying myself and you most certainly will not." Ben sighed, the steps he took to prep everything perfectly left him with heavy sense of disproportion in regards to what he did and what he felt he should be given. He sighed and eye balled his jacket which sat on the right side of his desk. He could hear Frank stepping out and walking toward the elevators.
"Ben! Hold up man. Gotta fuel up on that booze right?" He said, unconvinced that his work really did or meant anything. Frank shook his head and quickly grabbed his jacket. He cleared his pockets into his the trash "S he went.
"So whatās so good about this place?" Ben asked, Frankās face lit up with joy but then fell into its normal, slack appearance.
"Wellā¦Really nothing beyond the cheapness of liquor. Iām a pretty easy guy. I just canāt take it so far this week man. Itās a god damn grind back there." He said, pointing to the north east where their offices were. Ben chuckled at his response.
"I hear ya man. That totally seems familiar."
"Just gotta get out for a bit. Get some fresh air. You know man?" Said Frank, making a bottle drinking motion. The elevator dinged for the first floor and Ben laughed at his coworker.
