Miles Davis was the main instigator for my voyages into the idiom of jazz fusion and the best way to finish these conversations might be to return to him in a way. I should perhaps say In A Silent Way, since I intend to introduce John McLaughlin, one of the most prominent sidemen of Miles Davis during the latter's explorations into the unknown venues of jazz. Of course, he followed up his lead with his solo works as one can guess, though I must admit he continues to be quite prominent in the idiom. To be honest, there's a funny thing going on with those that are defined as jazz fusion, i.e. they continue to do great works despite their age. Then again, John McLaughlin – to come back to him – does prove why that happens with his career serving as a reminder of his great curiosity.
