Palle Mikkelborg, Miles Davis & John McLaughlin -Easy Sound Studio, Copenhagen 1985.
(English / Español / Italiano)
Legendary recording sessions for Miles Davis’s album Aura, which took place at Easy Sound Studio in Copenhagen between 31 January and 4 February 1985. The album was a conceptual suite composed and produced by the Danish trumpeter Palle Mikkelborg as a tribute to Miles Davis following the latter’s receipt of the prestigious Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 1984. The suite consists of ten movements, each named after a colour that Mikkelborg associated with Miles’s “aura” (such as “White”, “Yellow”, “Electric Red”, etc.). British guitarist John McLaughlin happened to be in Copenhagen at the time. Miles personally called him to join the sessions, where he recorded memorable solos without having rehearsed the material beforehand.
