Have Runaan or Rayla ever surprised you while you were working enough to make you drop throw something? I cant make myself stop giggling at the mental image of a Runaan staring cross eyed at a sharp object embedded into a wall inches from his face because he snuck up on you? I can almost hear him; "I thought we agreed I'm the one who throws sharp things at faces." The little shit.
Oh, that’s exactly Runaan, love. He never likes to show that he’s been caught off guard.
I live with two assassins. They’re even quieter than most Moonshadow elves. But I’ve long since trained myself not to react to surprise with flailing. I’m either holding something hot or something sharp, and those are two things that should never go flying across any room! Unless you’re an assassin, I suppose.
One time, soon after we started courting properly, Runaan thought it would be entertaining to have me throw a set of shiny new knives at a target just across my workshop, though. He stood at what he thought was a safe distance and told me to give it a go. I nearly sliced off one of his side tails!
I was very embarrassed, but he was very hot and very distracting. And it turned many of our future dates into him training me how not to kill anyone on accident. Which was especially nice to learn from such a skilled trainer who’s, um, very hands-on.
I might have been planning to miss the target on purpose. But I certainly didn’t mean to endanger Runaan’s lovely hair! Still, it worked out in the end!

EU countries are vague in their plans to meet climate targets and, due to a significant financing gap, could risk not meeting the EU’s objective of reducing emissions 55% below 1990 levels by 2030, the European Court of Auditors (ECA) said in a new report on Monday (26 June). The EU only managed to reach its 2020 climate goals thanks to the 2008 global financial crisis and the more recent COVID-19 pandemic, which triggered a sharp drop in economic activity and related greenhouse gas emissions, the ECA said. However, the auditors said Europe should not rely on unpredictable external events or an economic crisis to reach its more ambitious 2030 climate goals. “The auditors question whether the EU’s bid to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 55% compared to 1990 levels by 2030 can become a success story, as they found little indication that actions to achieve 2030 climate and energy targets will be sufficient,” the ECA said in a statement. Efforts to reduce energy consumption are a case in point, as EU countries “collectively lack ambition in pursuit of the 2030 energy efficiency target,” the report warned.
