it REALLY is tho! like, that is so far the best word i have to describe its level of weirdness, so thank you. (i wasnt high when i had this idea, i swear!) 

“You could get lost in here.”

“I’m not lost.” She wasn’t. Sheknew where she was and where she had to go. But she was so tired.

“Do you really have this manysecrets, Felicity?”

“What?”

“As many as it takes to fillthis place. It’s huge.”

She sighed deeply. “Why, how bigis your alone?”

But no answer came to her thistime. She turned her head to look up at him. “John?”

But hewasn’t there

Panting breathlessly against each other’s lips, hands linked together,grinding pleasure into each other slowly. Making love like they were separatingsalt from water; like they had all thetime in the world and they planned to spend it just like this: being together

the fluffy bit

“Whatdo you want?”

“Iwant to help you get out of here.”

There’s a small frown on her face as she tries to puzzle him out, as if he’s one of her programs that keeps glitching. “No.”

“No?”

Herhand comes to his face, gentle. He can’t help but lean into it. Just a little.

“No.” She repeats. Calm, without feeling. “You can’t lie to me here. This is my world. So what do you want, Oliver?”

“Iwant to be with you.”

“That’s not possible. Not even here. It’s gone now.”

the angsty bit

"Oliver?"

"That's not Felicity." 

"What?"

"It's not."

She smiled, white teeth shining. "Not just a pretty face. That was always cute about you."

He shook his head, having trouble finding his voice. "I just know you."

Her smile fell, the look in her eyes stone cold. The difference was even more stark then. 

"No, you don't."

At the sound of her Father’s voice the warm lethargy that had been seeping into her evaporated. Felicity straightened and turned to look at him.

Her father smiled. “Happy birthday, Felicity.”

The memory of the exact time she’d heard those words last from him flashed in her mind and was gone in a blink.

“Thank you.”

“I’ll go make sure my kids haven’t tied Rene to the chair again.” John said gently, laying a hand on Felicity’s shoulder before leaving. Her dad watched him go before his eyes turned to her again.

“I especially enjoyed meeting Doctor Wells and Professor Stein.” Her father continued. “They are even better in person, and had only wonderful things to say about you.” 

Felicity fidgeted a little with her glass of wine. “I help out at Star labs sometimes. And with some of Ray’s tech, which Professor Stein is familiar with.”

She wasn’t sure she liked the way he was looking at her in that moment. Like he knew exactly what she was doing.

“You have made loyal friends of most of the people in this room, but then again that doesn’t surprise me. I knew early on that you’d grow up to be a woman that would be hard to understand, for some. But never to love.”

Felicity opened her mouth, probably to say something, but there was nothing at all in her head so she closed it again, and gulped her heart down, trying to stay steady in the moment.

Her father’s smile softened into something just a touch wistful. “I am very happy you invited me tonight, Felicity. Thank you.”

Felicity took a breath, nodded. “I’m glad I invited you too.”

It’s terrible because I almost want to speed through the first several chapters to get to one that i really want to write (which happens a lot when i’m starting a new au)
