The way the Spotify Stalkers are spinning Zawe making her account private has me like
They're blaming 'the haters' for Zawe no longer being able to share fun, cute, personal things on the Internets and ruining any sense of 'normalcy' she had left. As in, she chose to leave the account public. They believe that she was allowing those who cared to find it access to 12 years of playlists that referenced locations, events, prior and upcoming roles, her child's name, and items Tom selected and shared to it. That they were fans, and special, and she welcomed their gaze upon her collection and ruminations on its content.
Are you fucking kidding me with this? Tell me you're joking. Two people who locked down all their social media accounts, removed personal content, and now only post work or activist related content left this account wide open ON PURPOSE? FUCK NO THEY DIDN'T.
To make it extra fun, they admitted they'd known about the account since 2020 and said they tried to keep it on the DL so 'the haters' wouldn't find out about it because they were concerned for Zawe's privacy. Really? You've been stalking this account FOR THREE YEARS and did things like posting sunglasses emojis to help your followers guess a baby's name but you're concerned for her privacy? NO YOU ARE FUCKING NOT.
'Who cares, it's not like she's reading my blog' will be the argument, but when one does a Google search for 'zawe ashton tumblr', guess what the first few listings are? DING DING DING, it's YOU, and your content is NOT behind a Tumblr login. Literally anyone can read it.
You can blame whoever you want for 'ruining your fun', but what you were doing was creepy and shady as fuck whether you realize it or not. These people are not your friends. You are not entitled to know things about their personal life unless THEY CHOOSE TO REVEAL THEM PUBLICLY. You knew you shouldn't have access to this account, and that's the REAL reason you kept things on the DL, because you couldn't handle the thought of not having a 'special' connection to the people you live vicariously through any longer. That content wasn't for you. It was for Zawe, her family, and, perhaps, her friends. YOU ARE NONE OF THOSE THINGS.
But, you know, keep on calling other people unhinged and delusional, I guess. And take a moment out of your day to imagine how both Zawe and Tom may have felt when they realized this account, which they absolutely had to have thought was private, wasn't...and that there are people out there who sought it out to find any crumb they could about them and their child. That it got locked down instantly should tell you everything you need to know.
