This species is rare and of small size (<6 mm) and found in clean forest lakes and ponds of the southeastern floodplain. Since the remaining populations are isolated, and much of the floodplain forest has been converted to agriculture, I suspect that O. parva used to be throughout the region. Recently it was included on a petition for ESA listing, but I have heard no news since last year.

Oecetis, a long-horned caddisfly, once again. This one was climbing the inside of a garage, antennae and those weird long palps waving furiously
I've never seen them before this year, but probably I wasn't playing attention. All the stormwater sumps landscaped into ponds around Baldivis probably help the population.

#255 - Another Longhorned Caddisfly
Very like the grey Oecetis I've posted earlier (indeed, a grey one was on the same wall a few feet higher)Â but this one is a snazzy red, brown, and white, and wouldn't look at all astray in a Tim Burton flick. Perhaps he'd need to be curlier though.
