So, a Malaysian footballer (not even a national...
Mate, not everyone is a native English speaker or at least able to speak English well like you do. He is from Malaysia, a country in Southeast Asia. But he made up for it by receiving the award that made him stand among the best in the world. That’s still something bigger than not being fluent in English. Hell, even Ronaldo is not really well-versed in English.
Child, you need to stop assuming everyone who can type good English are all white Westerners, especially when my #oh noooooo #poor baby is because I know guys like him all my life throughout my entire Malaysian school life in East Malaysia in Malaysia in Southeast Asia in Asia where I am born and raised excepting for 2 years of college so I know his pain very much because these are the awesome guys who love their sport so hard to the point of ignoring pretty much everything else because it’s just not interesting enough in school and the pain of knowing that your country’s football team has said goodbye to its Dream Team years ago and the government has silly ideas on what proper sport incentives are where you don’t have to work a full time job while training for hours at night and so maybe you dream of ONE DAY BEING CALLED UP TO DON A NATIONAL JERSEY but it’s still a bit far in the future but one day in a Malaysia Super League match you produce the MOST AWESOME RIDICULOUS WTF KICK THAT LEFT OTHER PLAYERS’ MOUTH AGAPE AND THE STADIUM IN A ROAR AND WENT VIRAL ON SOCIAL MEDIA and you get freaking nominated for a FIFA Puskas award where the other nominees are crazy freaking millionaire pro footballers (not all maybe)??? And you fucking won??? You just went from a Super League to freaking FIFA levels of fame????
I assure you, if Faiz had even had an inkling that he would have even achieved this insane long shot award, he would have had a major panic attack like the rest of us Malaysians then called up the nearest friend who speaks better English to help him.
So, “mate”.
How’s about we not be all condescending and assuming that a mastery of any language is an immediate indicator of one’s skin colour and nationality?
