The thing about this is I want to imagine Leo being nervous and saying the wrong thing and being overall embarrassing, but Leo canonically is a slow-but-steady methodical person, even (or maybe especially) when it comes to romancing a person. He’s pretty heartfelt and genuine in his compliments too (mostly because Leo doesn’t really say things if he doesn’t believe them, and he’s a strategist at heart). So maybe rather than Leo being too inexperienced to flirt correctly (which would be my gut reaction), please consider that he actually does a pretty good job and is even smooth with compliments and drops some pretty good hints with lingering touches that he’s into Odin. Spending a little more time on their conversations when it’s not strictly necessary, asking for Odin’s thoughts on certain topics a bit more, etc. It’s just Odin who doesn’t consider anything might be going on beyond “Wow, Lord Leo has been in such a good mood lately.” Even though it should be obvious. And perhaps he’s trying not to get his hopes up as well.

“So I'd much prefer you remain my retainer forever.” It is not the ideal life Leo never truly allows himself to dream about, but it is close to bliss. However, there are other factors at hand. “Let's say you do disappear. Fall through a void and into another world.”

Odin’s eyes flicker away. Leo’s tactician brain realizes he has Odin at the disadvantage somehow, but that is hard to fathom when Leo feels like the only one losing.
