@odettery replied to your text post: I'd love to hear more about the coping mechanisms, if you're interested in sharing!
The big one is, if it's weird but it works, who gives a fuck if it's weird.
If you keep panicking every time you leave the house because you think you left your hair dryer on, bring the hair dryer with you!
If you think there's gonna be a crazy axe murderer in the back of your car, check the backseat before you get in!
If you need to gamify your to-do lists, Habitica is right there and adorable!
If you can't cook, buy premade meals or just eat the raw broccoli!
If you can't wash dishes, buy paper plates and plastic utensils!
If you can't think or concentrate in the quiet, leave something on to listen to!
If you forget to do things, set alarms and make calendar events!
If you need ten thousand blankets on your body at all times to relax, just spring for the weighted one!
If you get sad in winter, get the sun lamp!
If you can't sleep in your bedroom, sleep on your couch!
If literally nothing but Cecil Palmer's voice can HELP you sleep, time to get reaaaaal into Welcome To Night Vale again!
Borders are fictional and society is made up! Getting in trouble is fake! Nobody can tell you how to run your own life!
And 🌈 TAKE 🌈 YOUR 🌈 MEDS 🌈 !!
That's the "off the top of my head" stuff, anyway. Admittedly some of the weird stuff I do is so harmlessly weird that I don't even consider it a coping mechanism anymore even though it probably is. But if you're not hurting anybody else, who cares if you just leave your clean laundry in the basket instead of hanging it up? It's your dang basket, you do what you want to do with it!
