strawberries & champagne is my part for @seularcade’s 90’s love collab and my moot, helena (@quokkacore),and i both decided to base ours off of movies/tv shows from the 90’s! my original pick was ‘you’ve got mail’ but i changed my mind and chose to do ‘pretty woman’ instead. some things were changed to fit what i wanted to happen and some scenes were cut (mostly the scenes from edward’s—the character kun replaced—perspective and the shopping scenes—i absolutely suck at those). y/n is based off of vivian, but i edited her to be more inclusive to the reader! i absolutely adore y/n. she is so fun to write! i did try to stray away from the movie as much as possible because i wanted it to be my work, just based off another work. it took me a little over a month to write the first part as i took a few breaks here and there and did my best to double up on word count the next day. i have a 500 word minimum per day writing plan that helps me stay on top of my projects!

I’m sorry you feel insignificant. I often drift into those thoughts especially now that college ended and I’m not surrounded by my friends. I’ve been trying to go outside a lot and plan out every day to make myself have a purpose. But I’m sure your situation is very different from mine. Either way - if you ever need to rant im here !

I've been homeschooled since high school, so I unfortunately don't have many friends. I have one friend that kept in touch from middle school, one friend who is my best online friend, and one friend I met during quarantine recently who may or may not be into me but I really don't know at this point. I really don't think my best friend from school (and my only irl friend technically) actually knows my birthday. My best online friend has been busy with her boyfriend. So I asked the guy I met during quarantine cuz we've been talking a lot and he said he did a zoom birthday party earlier in the year, and his response was literally "Idk... I feel bad saying no" and then "I'll do it" and then when I asked if he was sure, back to the "idk I feel bad saying no". We were talking about it yesterday and how he can just forget it but that I was really happy to maybe have someone to share my birthday with cuz I've never had that before, and his response was "now I feel bad cuz you don't have anyone to spend your birthday with" but made no indication that he actually wanted to hang with me. Just that he felt bad I was lonely and if he would do it it would be cuz he felt bad, and I don't wanna be hug out with as a charity case. And it's not like I was asking for an all day hang. I literally asked for 10 minutes, cuz I wanted to do it when I went outside to walk my dog. 10 minutes. That's it.

I really want to talk to him about it more and ask why he's uncomfortable hanging with me and why he doesn't want to and really explain how sad the situation is making me, but I really don't wanna guilt him into doing it and I don't wanna mess up our friendship dwelling on this, but I really don't how to approach it without it seeming like I'm not respecting him or like I'm trying to force things. I don't know. It's just really frustrating and disappointing and... Yeah.

But yeah I'm gonna try my best to enjoy my day, even tho I'm having the world's most unspecial 21st birthday in the history of birthdays. And yes I'm in America, so yeah it's supposed to be a big deal, but it seems no one can be bothered to help that. I'm currently trying to acquire a box of fruity pebbles to have in my birthday to at least start the day off happy, but that's proven very difficult too. Wonderful.

I'm doing... Absolutely nothing lol. I tried to get a friend to do a little virtual hang out with me to celebrate and they basically said they didn't want to but felt bad saying no and like they had to just cuz I asked and cuz I had no one else to celebrate with. I don't want someone to just hang out with me cuz they pity me or cuz they feel guilted into it, so I declined and told them I wanted to respect their feelings in not wanting to do it, but honestly I'm really upset about it and don't know how to explain that to them without feeling like I'm trying to guilt them into it. So nope. Nothing at all. Spending my 21st birthday cooped in my house doing nothing but walking my dog and eating my sister's favorite birthday cake cuz no one cares enough to get my favorite since my entire family doesn't like it and getting something only I like on my birthday is considered "selfish."

Sorry, that got really dark there for a minute. I just haven't really had a chance to share this with anyone. I would've complained to my friend, but I explained that situation already. And my other friend is too busy with her boyfriend. And I could complain to my bestie, but I honestly don't even think she knows my birthday is this week, so there's that.

Idk I'm just feeling really... Insignificant this year. I'll get over it.
